Dead Man's Party is amazing, it sounds cheesy the first few times you hear it but the album is so well themed and musically just brilliant. Plus it's fun to sing along to. One of those albums that you need to listen to beginning to end.

The Kinks (good old-school rocknroll)
Fugazi (yeah, wouldn't call'em punk, but fantastic shit)
Johnny Cash good if you're in texas)
The Aquabats (strap in and have some fun)
...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead (harmony comes to mind)
The Adolescents (punk)

Whiskeytown - everything
I dated a chick that loved Ryan Adams, and I used to think I was too fucking cool for that. Then we went to a show, and he was sober enough to put on a damn good show. I don't have all of his stuff, but I'll listen to it from time to time. He's kind of hit or miss, he puts out so much stuff.
Gwar - America Must Be Destroyed - Metal
If you're gonna start with Gwar, you have to start with Scumdogs of the Universe.
Meatmen - Stud Powercock / Punk\
Meatmen YES. And that one is all of their early stuff. But I'd also suggest ROck and Roll Juggernaut, War of the Superbikes and Pope on a Rope.
And for my suggestion I'll go off the beaten path a little bit. Since everyone seems to be posting metal albums.
Pink Floyd - Animals (This is one that's overlooked a LOT)
Alice in Chains - Unplugged
The Cult - Love

The Constantines - Tournament of Hearts - Art Punk / Alternative (sort of what Fugazi would sound like if Joe Strummer had been in Fugazi)
Sage Francis - A Healthy Distrust - Underground Rap
Phantom Planet - Self-Titled - Garage Rock (switching drummers made these guys go from good to great, nothing against Jason Schwarzmann)
John Cale - Hobo Sapiens - Indie / Trip-Hop
The Secret Machines - Ten Silver Drops - Stoner / Art Rock (pairs well with And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead)
The Thermals - The Body, The Blood, The Machine - Indie Punk
The Cooper Temple Clause - Kick Up the Fires and Let the Flames Break Loose - Alternative (Sounds like the missing Radiohead album that would have fit between The Bends and OK Computer.)
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Baby 81 - Alternative / Madchester - Kind of like the Jesus and Mary Chain with an American twang. Gay-ish name actually from The Wild Ones with Brando, so not that gay.
Fucked Up - The Chemistry of Common Life - Hard Rock - Kind of like if Dicky Barrett from the Bosstones sang for Priestess.
Frightened Rabbit - The Midnight Organ Fight - Indie (Worst band name ever, excellent fucking band. Scottish indie rock with folk / electro leanings, absolutely beautiful and catchy.)

Bob Dylan - Modern Times (2006) - country/blues (I picked it up after Black Earl recommended it on R&F and opened the show with one of the tunes-Is now in my top ten albums list/country)
Modern Times is Bob Dylan's 32nd studio album, released on August 29, 2006 by Sony BMG.
The album was Dylan's third straight (following Time out of Mind and "Love and Theft") to be met with nearly universal praise from fans and critics. It continued its predecessors' tendencies toward blues, rockabilly and pre-rock balladry, and was self-produced by Dylan under the pseudonym "Jack Frost". Along with the acclaim, the album sparked some debate over its uncredited use of choruses and arrangements from older songs, as well as many lyrical lines taken from the work of 19th century poet Henry Timrod.
Modern Times became the singer-songwriter's first #1 album in the U.S. since 1976's Desire. At age 65, Dylan became the oldest living person at the time to have an album enter the Billboard charts at number one [1] (Neil Diamond has since earned the title).
