From the September 1920 issue of The National Geographic Magazine
All right. I have no idea what's going on in this ad. No idea whatsoever. It seems like the Old Colony Trust Company of Boston subscribes to the old New England standards of stilling the war whoop of the Pequot tribe. Whatever that means.
The lithograph appears to depict a hero band of Maxwell Q. Klinger look-alikes storming a fort. One of 'em is engaged in some sort of homoerotic, sword & hatchet, leglock dance with a storm-ee. What this image has to do with the solid foundations of New England I do not know.
But I can imagine a young Anthony toting two bits and a dime to the drug store to purchase himself a copy of this issue of The National Geographic Magazine and making comments that gave the inappropriate bell a workout.
