Death Magentic is pretty good. However it is too little, too late to make up for the shit that they have released since the black album.

The black album is boring over played radio bullshit. I'm not one of those "they sold out maaan" people, it's just a dry album.

I don't know, I was a hardcore metal head back in the day and like all metalheads, Metallica were Gods to me when I was a kid. Then the Black album came out and it was like losing a parent. Everything after is garbage. Everything.

But I gotta say, I reluctantly gave Death Magnetic a shot and I fucking love it. That is the album that should have came out after And Justice For All. I don't even listen to metal anymore, but DM makes me feel like I'm 16 again. Broken, Beaten and Scarred and All Nightmare Long are the dopest songs I've heard in years. Everyone I've played it for that gave up on Metallica years ago loves it too. The fact that they are in their mid-forties and put out an album like DM has to be respected, it's just sad they wasted all those years since AJFA with crap.

I hear ya, my copy of Death Magnetic fell off a truck on the information highway (suck it Lars), and as much as I like it, he is still and pretty much always has been a douche.

.....but it seems to me that a bunch of middle aged guys, married with kids and success and money they could only dream of 25 years ago, are still writing teen-angst songs about death misery and death...I dunno, no disrespect for you that love the new album, but isn't it an act at this point? What do they possibly have in their lives to be bitter and angry about anymore? When they were unknown teens from broken homes trying to make it as a band, that's great, there was a real hunger and honest power in thier early material... but all these years later? I dunno. It just seems silly to me now to still be making those types of songs. The lead single from DM sounded like they stitched together recycled riffs from a bunch of older songs to make a new one.

Metallica has always been the "I'm 17 and rebelling against my parents and the world maaaaaaaaaan" band to me. I like some of their songs and respect them as musicans, don't get me wrong, but I could never get into them that much because I wasn't an angry teen or young adult and couldn't relate to most of their stuff

i don't understand how it is too little too late. Almost like they personally attacked you and insulted your family and beat up your children. However since they waited almost 20 years to apologize it is too little too late.

I just don't get what you mean, why not just listen, enjoy and that is it.

They can't win. They evolved an the mid to late 90's and people bitched that they weren't the same anymore. Now they're trying to go back to their roots, and people bitch that it's an act. Bottom line is a lot of their fans got mad when the mainstream finally took notice of them. Had they put out the exact same albums over the years but never made a video many people would have a different opinion of them right now.

Didn't we hear all these crits when they made "One"?
I'm not a head banger, but I love the shit out of Metallica… ALL their stages. They grew up and evolved. So what? Stop listening to the new shit, and just crank the old stuff you LIKE. Nothing wrong with that, right?

Metallica is good, but Sevendust rocks my socks off.

They basically put out the same album every 18 months, over and over and over and over and over and over and I couldn't be happier.

My rocks have been socked off. LOL! That was so good.

I didn't say I didn't enjoy listening to DM but this should have been the album that was released after the black album. This album shows that they still have the passion to create good music. All of the music that came after the black album, was uninspiring shit. That's what I mean about being too little, too late.

The albums that came out after the black album were different but passable. Not great but passable. The only really bad album they have put out was St Anger. I've got no problem with a band going in different directions.

I have never had a problem with band going in different direction just make sure its in a good direction. I say the same thing about the Megadeth. Everything that came out after Youthnasia, which isn't a solid album beginning to end, is complete horseshit as well.
