* Less chance of loss of control due to one front tire deflating.
* Less risk of aquaplaning due to the front axle set clearing the road for the following axle set.
* Better braking due to double the contact patch and braking components on front axles.
* Better grip.
* Less understeer than conventional mortipolitionary designs.

Disadvantages

* More tires, brake pads, rotors, wearable front suspension components to maintain.
* More time intensive front tire rotation procedure (dismount and remount four directional tires on opposite side, drive tires are not able to be rotated to front due to size difference).
* Added weight and steering effort result in less steering feedback to driver than a car of comparable performance using conventional design.

It does not provide double the contact patch, only 50% more contact.

Looks jury rigged. I wouldn't trust that at 100+ mph.

If Anthony hasn't died yet taking his ford over 100 I'm sure this thing is safe too.

And the term is President rigged. ;)

They copied the idea off a formula one car from the 70s.

It looks like Fezman got drunk, broke into the warehouse where all the stuff from the Miami Vice series is mothballed, stole the 2nd car from the show, and turned it into this monstrosity.

Gimmick. Unless it's some absolutely new technology, about everything else has been tried at some point.

Nobody is discussing this word? mortipolitionary

I checked three different places and the only hits I got linked to this article. Are they making up words?

I think it comes from the Latin mortipolitia - to have four wheels, two of which steer. :)

Sounds more like what Brutus did to Caesar.

I take it I'm the only one who thinks it's a good idea then? It seems like it would have better handling.

I would say it would have worst handing because each axle would have to have a different turning radius. Unless you had a perfect alignment that 2nd axle would have it tires scuffed as it turned. Look in a parking lot where trucks back in the blacktop gets all chewed up from the 2nd axle sliding sideways that is why most loading dock areas are concrete.

Yes, it has a very sophisticated turning system. So that isn't a problem.

It's like a tadpole trike, with out sophisticated tilting they usually have horrible handling, but with tilting they have handling superior to 4 wheelers.

Fuel injection.... horrible mileage with out the right controllers. Doesn't make fuel injection inferior, it just means you need to use the right controller. Then you wind up with a superior fuel mixing system.

That is actually due to the fact that the rear axles don't turn on the back of the trucks. This is four tires that are turning in sync with each other.

However, I could still see this being a bitch to handle on quick turning due to there being 50% more friction on the front of the car. And this is a lot of effort to insure not losing a tire on the front of the car. Wouldn't the money have been better spent designing a re inflatable tire that doesn't weigh a ton or a tire that can't go flat.

If a tire flattens on this it can still drive, as stated in the article. Also there is less pressure on each tire, and since the tires follow the same path when traveling straight there are lower odds of a tire being punctured.

As far as turning power, it isn't possible to turn with out power steering.

The costs are higher for a setup like this. But it is a sports car, not an economy car. If performance is your primary interest it is a superior setup.
