That third one is just rough. I guess she wasn't as into him as he thought. If I ever proposed to someone, it wouldnt be in public and I'd have to be 99 percent sure she'd say yes.

You definitely need to have the marriage talk ahead of time. A casual "So what do you think about marriage?" followed by a "maybe it's time" to feel the waters.
