I never appreciated Opie in the past I just thought he got lucky by finding Ant and fell into success. After his absence (via Honneymoon) and that awesome Monday show I realized how he really is the straw that stirs the drink.
OK now wish me into oncomming traffic faggots.

i'm glad you realize how important Op' is to the show.
He's the boss, keeps things moving, and unfortunately is under-appreciated.
Stay out of the traffic!

Opie would be even more effective if he could figure out what it is he's washing his hair with every morning. Still, the fella does a wonderful job for a caddy, and nobody disparages a gift quite like he does. Simply fantastic.

I feel bad for Op sometimes. He brings so much to the show and is overshadowed (and often talked over) by Ant and Jimmy. Alot of his good lines often go unacknowledged, too.
We all know what he does for the show, though, as does Ant and Jimmy and everyone on the staff.

Opie is what keeps the show together and it sucks that he is under appreciated, and its to bad. It just makes me appreciate him even more because of that. It sucks when his funny lines either get talked over or not acknowledge. He brings a lot to the show, he is what keeps it moving and flowing. The glue that keeps everything together.
Thank You Opie

I thought he did a good job of directing traffic on monday with david on XM.
But I thought he really was being an asshole to that girl. who gives a shit if she thinks shes an 'exotic dancer', spending 15mins about the difference between stripper and exotic dancer.

This is so true. He had like 3 lines in a row today that really got me cracking up and nobody else acknowledged he spoke. That's one thing I love when Patrice/Bobby/Vos sit in, they take notice of Opie's lines and laugh their asses off when he says something that Ant or Jim don't even pay attention to.

Ant and Jimmy are really into each other and trying to get to the joke first. They don't exclude/ignore Opie on purpose, but I think it has to do with the dynamics and roles each person plays on the show.
Love 'em all, but Opie is the master.

I loved that bit. Fucking whores try to call themselves "dancers" and no one ever calls them on it.
Opie's stuff is some of my favorite. He brings ALL of the "go too far" stuff to the show, he's like the Bizarro Jiminy Cricket.
Ironically, I also love "Tearing down the 1094273560298th Wall" and "Gregg Hughes, the Actor Who Plays Opie" as bits.
People who think Opie doesn't bring the funny to the show just don't get his sense of humor. I don't need to be beat over the head with the funny all the time, sometimes a bit more subtle is better.

If anyone is irreplaceable, I'd say it would be Opie. It's a close call, because Anthony might be the funniest guy on the planet. Jimmy has an amazing comedic mind and he is perfect for this show. But hearing the show Monday where Ant wasn't in, I realized that Opie could do a show without Ant, and be successful at it. I guess he proved that during the boo-boo-boo days, but he certainly has a different kind of style now. I hope we never have the chance to find out, because the three of them together create the perfect radio show, at least for me. But I certainly think Opie brings a lot to the table.
I just wish more people from Wisconsin called, so we could hear him ask that age old question.... ARE YOU A CHEESEHEAD?!!??!??!!

I love these threads. Neither Opie nor Anthony could be replaced. If either of them left it wouldn't be the O&A show anymore. They work so well together, we don't even notice it most of the time. But I'm pretty sure Ant couldn't even run the board or keep the show on track without Op, and Op sure can't do voices. And therein lies the synergy.
A show without either of the guys would be a show, sure. But not the same or as good.

I wonder if fans of the Ron & Ron show felt that way. The recent show without Opie was just fine, it took me awhile to even notice he was not there. When Anthony was out, the show sucked except for the David massage parlor bit. Anthony carries the show.

Anthony is brilliant and one of the funniest people ever to breathe.
The bottom line, however, is that Opie can do a show without Anthony and not vice versa. Monday was a reminder of that. Opie knows how to pull radio out of anybody and anything. Anthony is a personality, not a host.

Could someone other than Opie read the articles please? He reads at a 4th grade level and is impossible to listen to:
"Did they print this right?" "This doesn't make any sense." "No, wait. I got it."
A period means stop, stupid.
He mispronounces EVERYTHING and when he is corrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrected he blames it on being tired:
"Oh, yeah. That's how you say it. Sorry, it's early."
And quit cock blocking the rest of the show because YOUR cock is locked down. It's old hat and not funny anymore.
That being said, he is the best captain in radio and the show couldn't last without him. I don't always like Op but I fucking respect what he does.

Anthony and Jimmy are probably one of the funniest combinations on radio but Opie is the ringmaster of the show. He is the one that guides the show through stories and bits and keeps things moving while trying not to let a bit go too long(sometimes it works sometimes it don't).
Opie is funny but not as funny as Ant & Jimmy. But with Opie it's a perfect combination.

Love Opie more and more each day.
The day they were trying to describe the 1 guy, 1 jar video on the FM side, trying to keep it clean, then immediately at XM, the first thing outta Opies mouth was.....
SO THIS FUCKING FAGGOT........
Had me fucking rolling.
Anthony and Norton are fucking beyond hilarious, but they cannot carry a radio show. Opie is the man.

Opie over the years has defended his role. Some people used to piss on him as being the unfunny killjoy on the show, but if you pay attention to just him, you realize he's running the train while Ant and Norton add what they add. Granted, Opie throw in lines that make you realize he is FAR from the funniest guy on the show, but his honeymoon shows did provide a good glimpse into what he does add. Just like his restaurant...FH Reily's in the heart of Huntington Village...he's the silent partner that keeps the thing afloat. Just my 2-cents.
