XM's offering a discounted lifetime offer of $399 with XM and $499 adding Best of Sirius. That is $150 off the normal prices. I can't say I'd bother if the lawyers keep gumming up the fucking show. A year ago, I might have done it, but even IF I wanted to add Howard to my radio, he's threatening to leave at the end of his contract.

So they want us to pay $499 for maybe no Howard and a muffled lawyered-down O&A? No fucking way!

And they wonder why the stock is sitting at .116 cents. Yes, .116. You have to add the thousandth place when your stock sucks dick and you can buy a share with the change you find on the ground and a few round lots with the money in your couch. It's lost .54 cents since October 1st. Fucking blunderful.

What a pathetic atempt to get some easy cash in the short term. This really is a sign of desperation. What happens if they go bust in 2 years? Do you get a refund or a government bailout? Do you tits!

So they want us to pay $499 for maybe no Howard and a muffled lawyered-down O&A? No fucking way!

Because Howard's inane babbling borefest of a show would influence you to get the best of Sirius?

And remember...some still get confused of this being a "lifetime" subscription, which it is not. If you like getting the next greatest radio that comes out...that "lifetime" deal will run out after three radios. In addition, you have to pay something like $75 each time you change radios.

I'm sure it works out great though if you don't mind keeping the same radio for years.

I wonder how that would all work out though if you decide to go ala carte or change your programming.

Mel the Jew thinks we are all idiots. Or at least he thinks that there are enough idiots to fall for this ploy. The way things are looking, "Lifetime" might be next month. SiriusXM could belly up like a dead fish any day now. It already smells that way. (lawyer joke)

I recently changed my annual subscriptions to monthly just before they were about to renew. It's not worth the free month to be locked in for a year given the current state of the company. I can't imagine anyone buying lifetime service now.

nneptune
12-20-2008, 01:41 PM
... and now they're touting how existing xm subs can get the best of sirius free for three months.
That would be a nice offer on its own, but stupid Mel expects you to buy six months of the service to get three free.
Fuck that guy!

I actually have the same Roady2 in my car that I started with when O&A went to Sat. I really dont have the need to keep getting new radios so if I decided to get a lifetime sub it would last me a very long time with being able to switch it to 3 radios.

I have a question I hope someone can answer. I switched my roady2 to an inno and kept the roady2 unplugged for a month to try and avoid the deactivation signal which it has for almost 2 years now. I was thinking of changing my subscription to online only and hoped I could continue using the inno like I am the roady2 now,but I noticed if I dont use the inno for a while it says to keep it on for 10 mins to verify subscription. I was curious if all the new radios do that, or is that something that only the portable units do? I was thinking of buying a new radio and get the best of sirius (because I dont think I can get best of Sirius with my roady2)then after a couple months switching to online only and do what I do now with the roady2,but I dont feel like going through all that if everytime I turn on the radio it is going to say it has to verify subscription. So can anyone with a current radio like any of the Express line let me know if my idea is possible.

Here's some problems with the business model.

1. False advertising: Uncensored radio is really censored.
2. It costs too much.
3. Howie gets paid too much
4. Steve C needs improv lessons ... well that has nothing to do with the business model, more of a personal problem.

*edit* Forgot to mention all the bosses and lawyers are incompetent.

About that false advertising, last night on AMC during Casino they ran some ads for Sirius XM and they said they had 35 million subscribers. Sat radio with it's debt is looking like it's going to turn into the Betamax of the audio industry.

I don't get it. It has probably been said before. Why do these company pay lawyers to block production and reduce quality. I thought paid lawyers were there to prevent other lawyers and law suits from doing that.

This deal can be really good for businesses that been using xm in thier offices or workplace.

Some of these guys do the music thing all day on thier 'hold' music, or just have it on a reg station.

This discount can have them set for life, regardless of the things that mack us 'pests' tick.

But, just like the rest of you....I wouldnt touch this with a 10 foot pole. My uncle bought into it though, for his cabinet factory.

I remember when I first got XM a month before O&A started I heard about Sirius' lifetime offer and being jealous that XM didn't offer it since I would definitely have taken them up on it.

Now, I'm nowhere near inclined to sign up since Don is probably right.

What kinda bugs me is, I paid 500 bux for 5 years prepaid back in 2005. I have about 130 bux left "prorated" but lifetime wasn't an option then. Otherwise I would have bit.

Now if I wanted to convert that radio, I'd still have to pay like 200+ for XM everything or 300+ for XM + best of sirius.

I hardly move my radio's. Still have my skyfi2 going for what, almost 4 years now. No issues.

=====

But I'd say if you have a factory car radio with sat radio, this is a great option as the likelyhood of your stock head unit going bad is almost NIL. It prevents you from getting an aftermarket radio, but with GPS and climate control integration, most people cant get new radios anyway.

SaveSirius.org, a group of upset SIRI investors lead by Michael Hartleib (pictured), has posted an account of the recent shareholder meeting during which he was told by a source that bankruptcy plans are in the works.

According to Hartleib's account of the meeting, a many of those in attendance raised concerns over the state of the company and management.

"There were approximately 150 people in attendance," writes Hartleib. "I believe all but two were opposed to management and their actions. There was little or no applause during the meeting and, in fact, once the meeting ended it was dead silent. Mr. Karmazin quickly escaped back stage."

Members of SaveSirius.org came equipped with 16 banners, according to Radio Business Report. Eight of the banners urged a "no" vote on the reverse stock split (which was subsequently approved) and another eight banners promoted the group's website.

But, according to Michael Hartleib, the "most troubling part" was information that a "prepackaged bankruptcy plan" has been drafted and is ready to be filed. This information was obtained by "a reliable source" of Hartleib's. Orbitcast has not been able to corroborate this information, though concerns of Sirius XM going bankrupt have been mounting of late.

Mel Karmazin said he would not rule out bankruptcy, according to SaveSirius, but he noted that he does not think it would happen. Additionally, Karmazin said he believes the company will be able to refinance it's debt.

No, just laying out the two options. Plus, there are some fans out there that are Hoo-Hoo fans and might opt for the extra. I'd almost get it just for the NFL if I already didn't have access to every game on a tv in almost every bar in the Boston area.

I personally wouldn't, but I'm not everybody.

I would love to support the company that employs O&A.......if they actually supported O&A. So far they have watered down the show, and will take away our ability to see it live in the very near future. I take that as a FUCK YOU to us from XMSIRUS. I subscribe to satellite for 2 shows, O&A and R&F. That is all I listen to, if I want uninterrupted music I own (HELLO?) a fucking IPOD.... I chose what I want to listen to, rather than hope I hear something I like. Satellite radio's only future is exclusive, original TALK, that can't be duplicated by the latest technology. I can't for the life of me understand why they would bury talent the way they are.

SIRIXM is toast. Bankruptcy will be the name of the game before spring.

Not that the company will stop broadcasting. Bankruptcy will be a tool to break overpriced content contracts (Ofra, Martha Stewart, MLB, Nascar, NFL, HOO HOO Howie) to name a few.

Once those over priced content contracts are broken & re negotiated, and the company can dispose of all that debt they might turn a profit.

I still think some company with a lot of CIB will step in and buy them. Without all that debt, the company can easily turn a profit.
