That's obviously going to work out. I don't suspect there'll being any fighting with other shows like when they first came to XM, especially since they're going to be treated so well and given a fantastic studio over there. I can't see how any problems could possibly come from this.

I at least got to get in before the potential end of the live audience. Sucks hardcore none the less! I don't get how something so great can be taken away for such a shitty reason as space limitations. I blame the economy!

You should try and see the show before the audience is gone. its definitely worth it.

Howie probably does not want O&A fans ruining his bad show.

Has nothing to do with Howard. Everyone at Sirius does the show from the Sirius studios except Howard, who has his own studio (most likely in his contract) and Bubba, who works out of Florida, I think.

Its going to suck but here's a bright side. No more attention seeking nobodies getting on the air. That's something.

Can they stop it? Sure than can make Anthony stop broadcasting the XM only portion of the show, but there are 2 paltalk rooms that I know of that broadcast the Ron and Fez show, with no involvement from the studio.

If they were to go to afternoons, what would be the chance they would broadcast from the same studio as Howard I don't think so. Not because they're so big but because I doubt Howard would let others use HIS studio- especially O+A. I still think the 202 shows might get their own studio but it won't be as fancy or nice as the current one is.

DonTheTrucker

Just to be clear: I don't care if people listen for free on Paltalk. What I hate is they get a jump on everyone else when it comes to feeding lines, and the various hosts get distracted by what's going on on cameras. It makes people like Crazed and Spandyman think they're interesting and important to the shows. When I say something about listening for free, thats just the reason Sirius would use for removing it from the studio.

Most of my friends are on Paltalk in some form or other. It's just not my cup of tea. If I want to talk to someone I'll give them a call.

CousinDave
12-21-2008, 04:58 AM
true I've had better luck getting comments read on air by paltalk than the instant feedback, although at this point the o&a paltalk room is way to "busy" to really follow anything.

I have hughes.net so the paltalk cameras are worthless for me and I don't understand the point of looking at people sitting in front of a computer, but the chat room part used to be a good place to rag on the guests and callers - not so much anymore

The mere pittance of the lease should come out of the reduction in Melvin's (32 million dollar annual salary) if I had any say in the matter.

So if you ran a business...youd save money by cutting your salary over a good business sense (since its obvious they are probably going to clear out their XM building and stop renting in that buildling)??

Consoldation is smart, everyone in one buildling, no more "we have to leave early for meetings" cause they are now in the same buildling, etc.

The space they rent now on 56th is probably atleast 32 million a year considering all the XM space they have their, Mel's salary has nothing to do with it.

The point is Melvin is making far too much money, while the stock has rapidly declined. His salary should be on the same sliding scale.

you mean Beta Max right??

Actually it's 'Betamax'. One word.

The "Betamax" name came from a double meaning: beta being the Japanese word used to describe the way signals were recorded onto the tape, and from the fact that when the tape ran through the transport it looked like the Greek letter "Beta" (β). The suffix -max came from "maximum" to suggest greatness.

Well they got a 1 yr K-Rock extension last March and Opie mentioned off hand a couple weeks ago there were 'just a month or so' left in those studios. So barring any huge announcements you could figure they are readying studios in Sirius and the second FM goes, they will be under the Sirius thumb. And we heard on the show how Mel thinks about sharing content - so I can't see any FM extension. That's been shown with the demise of the Virus DirecTV channel and of course soon the Paltalk and Audible portals as soon as those contracts (if any) end. It doesn't make any business sense to have other avenues besides 202/197 to listen to the Virus from MelK's view.

It sucks that they are leaving the XM Studios, but are they leaving the current CBS studio also?

CBS headquarters is located between 10th and 11th Ave., which is much closer to Op and Jimmy's neighborhood.

If they walk from the current CBS studio to Sirius, it would be about 30 minutes of down time between shows. Driving would actually take longer.

People seem to think that they are going to shut down operations if they bankrupt. The subscribers and infrastructure is a commodity that has more value than what they could get by liquidating it and selling it off in pieces. Someone is going to buy them or they will go bankrupt and emerge as new company dumping those expensive deals they made before the merger.

Unless Paltalk becomes a sponsor, my guess is no. If not right away, it won't be long before Sirius takes that too.

I never understood why they didn't have their own cams on their own site like Rush's ditto cam or an updated version of the Stinky cam. No chat feature and no way for attention whores like Crazed to show themselves jacking can only be a good thing.

Kenny prefers that people wait on the side of the XM building next to the billboards surrounding the removed building next door.
111 W 57th st (Steinway Bldg)

I was up there today. It's definitely worth it to go check out O&A/R&F.

Thanks!

Okay just to make sure... this is the current address of KROCK correct?

K-Rock
40 W 57th St # 14
New York, NY 10019

I'm going to do the walk over tomorrow and check out the live show and just want to make sure.

FRRRRRRUNKUS!

Yeah they don't let people up usually for the K-Rock/CBS side of the show. You're better off waiting by the XM building to get on line early. The security in the CBS building are even bigger assholes than the ones in the XM one. When I had to pick up my tix for the Halloween party a few years back, they were very paranoid having me and the other listeners who won standing around...

WXRK and WCBS-FM (currently at 40 W 57th) are actually moving down to 345 Hudson Street in the next month or so which will probably mean that O&A will have to broadcast out of Sirius exclusively for both FM and satellite. 1010 WINS and WNEW will be moving from 888 7th Ave. (O&A's old home from 1998-2002) in March to Hudson Street as well.

Interesting...I guess my sister's fiancee will be moving there for work. He does news reporting for a CBS owned station

As long as they're there until after March 19th. That's all I hope for.
