Ronnie B's voice seems higher back then and he was more of the funny guy while Ronnie D drove the show (like Opie now) . Probably the best / cringiest clip of Ronnie B ever is when Ronnie D and Ronnie B's had it out on air around the last days of their show:

i think its the compression that makes the voice a higher pitch on old VHS conversions like that.

Compression was the first thing I thought too, but it seems like most people have higher voices in the beginning of their broadcast careers (WBAB Opie sounds like a child...) I never really got to listen to Ron and Ron, so it's hard for me to know which it is in this case.
