Yea, same here. I remember hearing about it for the first time around 03 or 04.
Yep. I was reading about Band of Brothers on IMDb, read about this thing that was being talked about called: "The Pacific", and 2009 seemed so far away, damn.

Interesting that the VO is an australian...that leads me to believe that the ad is for australia (also the 7 in the bottom right corner is for the 7 network australia)

According to the link that distortion9 posted, the miniseries is based on two books, With The Old Breed , by Eugene Sledge, and Helmet for my Pillow, by Robert Leckie. I know that someone had asked about that earlier in the thread and I was also curious myself.

Cock....looks like March 2010.
Tom Hanks, executive producer of “Pacific” was recently interviewed by EMPIRE magazine about his upcoming films. During the interview Hanks mentioned the following about “Pacific”: On The Pacific War, his HBO series that’s a spiritual sequel to Band of Brothers, Hanks said, ”That’s having its score finalised. I think it’s going to be March 2010. We are able to visit the home front on this one and we’re able to show the guys before the War and after. We show some of the most vicious stuff I’ve ever seen on film - because it has to be.”

Wow, if he is saying that it's more graphic than Saving Private Ryan or Band of Brothers .... I cant even imagine that.
It's funny, any more, to me at least, blood is just blood in movies. It's how the blood is spilled that fucks with your head. Like the knife scene in Saving Private Ryan or Guarnere laying on the ground with his leg blown in half.
There was some fucked up stuff that went on the pacific theatre. I don't feel like any of the violence was gratuitous in BoB or SPR I hope they keep the gritty reality while not making it over the top.

I'm really excited about this too. The only thing that worries me is there was a scene in there of a guy kissing some broad. Now it may not be a big deal but the biggest problem I had with Band of Brothers is that the biggest and most climactic episode should have been Bastogne. But they chose that one to insert a romance angle that just didn't belong. If you want to show some love stories in the beginning during character development or some scenes where the guys are banging prostitutes while on leave that's fine. But when it's time for war and the fighting starts, leave the love stories out.

From my understanding they do some background character development in forms of flashbacks of these guys lives before the war... that I assume are the love scenes and the wedding scene in the trailer.

Its funny you guys pointed that out too. The romance scenes scared me a little bit. Nothing ruins a war movie faster than a woman.
just for comparison the original BoB trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ehwsOL04og
I hope to god they don't ruin this movie with a bunch of romance trying to pull in the women folks.

I thought the scenes with the medic and the nurse showed a little bit of humanity that got blown all to hell - especially when he uses her headscarf as a bandage.
Might be my favorite ep of the series. Looking forward to The Pacific.
