Wore them out in Canada in early July on one of these. Greatest bite ever in fishing. Its like an explosion on the surface of the water. They float, you just twitch them and bam, let it have it for two seconds and set the hook as hard as you can.

When I was a kid my dad and I tried everything to catch bass from a pond one evening. Then we saw a huge mouth slide out and grab a swallow when it skimmed the water. After that, we were trying to catch a swallow for bait.

saw a bass eat a snake once. chased a snake until it slithered into a pond to get away. a bass raced in and grabbed the head of the snake, pulling it underwater. the snake immediately coiled around the bass's body trying to that constrictor thing. the beastly struggle then continued as the bass writhed and swam into the dark murky depths. i don't think the snake won.

The key is water 60 degrees or higher. Have to throw it over grass that is just under the water surface. Best time is in fall when the temp goes back down a little, and then you use a "rat". Looks like frog but with a tail. The bites are few and far between. But the action is amazing. The trick is the 2 second countdown. Its hard to contain yourself when a fish explodes on it. You want to set the hook immediately.
