I couldn't find a thread for Spiderman 4 News so here it is...(also the latest)
No villians confirmed but the rumor is The Lizard (finally?!) :bugzap:

Although it's not really news that Spider-Man 4 will start shooting in 2010 as this report at MTV highlights (director Sam Raimi himself said previously that filming would start by March of 2010), it is good to hear that J.K. Simmons will be returning:

The fourth film in the blockbuster "Spider-Man" franchise will begin shooting in 2010, actor J.K. Simmons told MTV News at Sundance, revealing that he'll continue in the role of Daily Bugle publisher J. Jonah Jameson. "I saw Sam [Raimi] at his Christmas party."

The fourth installment is expected to hit theaters in May of 2011. In October of '08, it was announced that playwright David Lindsay-Abaire (upcoming Inkheart) would write the script. James Vanderbilt wrote an earlier draft.

In September 2008, Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire made deals to direct and star in the fourth and fifth films respectively. Sony wanted to film the sequels together to keep the budget down. "The studio never considered any other actor," said a spokesman about recasting the role. "Tobey was our only choice and the only person we've discussed the role with." Maguire will earn $50 million up front for agreeing to shoot both films over six months. Part of his deal means he can take evenings and early mornings off to spend time raising his daughter. Actress Kirsten Dunst had also expressed openness to return with Raimi and Maguire.

Beforehand, Dylan Baker, who portrays Dr. Curt Connors, expressed interest in portraying the character's villainous alter-ego, the Lizard. Producer Grant Curtis is also a fan of the character, and also expressed interest in Kraven the Hunter. Raimi said that if he returned to direct, he would turn Connors into the Lizard. He also expressed interest in setting up the Sinister Six by introducing the Vulture and Electro. Raimi is also a fan of Morbius, the Living Vampire, citing the "combination of superhero plus supernatural". J. K. Simmons will return as J. Jonah Jameson.

Meanwhile, in July 2007, Avi Arad revealed a Venom spin-off was in the works. The studio commissioned Jacob Aaron Estes to write a script, but rejected it the following year. Sony announced that in addition to a new director and writer, they wanted to replace Topher Grace in the lead, as they felt he was unable to "carry" a blockbuster. In September 2008, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese (Sony's upcoming Zombieland) signed on to write.

I agree, I fuckin hate Kristen Dunst as MJ, but at this point I cant see them bouncing her from the franchise unless she asks out. More Bryce Dallas Howard, I say. :eekdroolA

Anyway, after the clusterfuck that was part 3 Im slightly trepadatious about a fourth film, let alone a fifth, but if theyre filmed back to back they mave have a more cohesive feel which could make them pretty good. I also must admit that the Sinister Six possibly being introduced has me intrigued.

if they wouldn't have fucked up the Venom story line (due to their faggot director not liking it), it would've been good. But there were too many plotlines that were rushed through to make it good. They could've made a shitload of movies surrounding Spidey and Venom, and even brining Karnage in, but nooooo, Sandman and that shit was soo much better.


Fuck Ramini for ruining Spiderman. Thank god for Iron Man, at least it's a good movie.

I loved what they did with the Sandman. Venom was not bad but should have had it's own movie I think. Why not go the whole Hob-Goblin route? Again...shoving too much into one movie sucked balls (old batman franchise anyone???).

Things that fucking sucked about Spiderman Three (no order particulairly):

1. Dunst (I'm not a fan of her acting or flat face) Kill her off ala Gywen Stacey already (like in the comic) and give Spidey his anger back!
2. Raimi actually had Peter Parker doing the "bat-tue-sie" number from the 60's batman TV series. That scene should be fucking burned and Raimi should be off the project if he intends to camp up the franchise!
3. Why do we have the goblin on a skate board looking like some teen titan Saturday morning cartoon...see #2 above. Camp CRAP!
4. The ruining of spidey's secret identity story line
5. More foreshadowing of the Lizard et al was needed to keep interest.
6. SONY SUCKS...if only Marvel had this franchise!

Spidey 3 was OK to mediorce... But it was a huge disappointment nonetheless after what Sam did with Spidey 1 and 2. The Venom storyline was rushed and the BS how Raimi started to like him was irritating. He was strongarmed by Marvel and Avi Arad to include him, so he did, but his way.

Future movies can be redeemed with a strong Lizard/Kraven the Hunter storyline. And a Sinister 6 storyline would be intriguing, especially if that means Doc Ock is still alive.

That could be a pretty good story line, especially if somewhere in the middle Kraven takes the "Goblin Serum" to become strong enough to fight the Lizard, and goes crazy in the process.

SM3 still pisses me off. I forgot how disappointed I was until I began to remember it, reading this thread. With Goblin 2 (not Hobgoblin, but Goblin 2, ugh), Sandman and Venom, they spread themselves too thin and didn't give a proper movie to Sandman or Venom.

Too many villains fucks up a movie.

Watch the next movie have Lizard, Vulture, Rhino and Venom.

All that being said, I will be there on day one to see it at a midnight screening, because Spider-man is the best super hero. IMO.
