Anyone here use Netflix? I like to watch a movie here and there, I usually download it. But lately this has been taking too much time. I'd rather pay a monthly fee than sit around waiting for it download. I feel like it's not worth the time for the free movie. (I connect to the internet through my phone, so my speeds aren't too fast, ~150kbps max).
I was looking at the basic plan, 1 movie at a time, unlimited per month. I live in an apartment building and I don't think the movie would fit in my mailbox. How do the movies get delivered? Is it USPS?
How does it compare to Blockbuster unlimited plan?
Thanks guys

Netflix fucking RULES. The DVD's get delivered in an envelope that's about the length and width of a hardcover book, so if you have room to get junk mail in your box, you shouldn't have a problem.
Netflix also lets you watch unlimited Instant Movies right on your computer. Their selection is getting better in that area, and it's a lot better than, like you said, waiting for a torrent.
I've never used Blockbuster's online service, but I can also tell you that Netflix has some of the best customer service I've ever dealt with. Any time you get a disc that doesn't play because of scratches or if they send the wrong DVD in the right sleeve, just go to the website and you can have a replacement sent immediately.
I forgot to mention - you can also pay an extra $1 per month if you pick up a Blu-ray player in the future and watch those as well.

I cant speak about the plans as I have the 1 at a time DVD plan but I also stream Netflix through my XBOX. Instant movies (although they dont have all titles available yet for instant viewing) great quality (even the non HD movies look great on my TV) and I can watch as many movies as I want. I love it.

If I had to choose between keeping Netflix or XM, I'd choose Netflix in a heartbeat.

I'm doing the streaming to my ShitBoX, and playing BluRay's on my PS3.

Just reading this gave me the sweats. I don't think I could make the choice. My head would explode.

Netflix is by far superior to blockbusters service. There very fast and only had a problem once in the 5 years i have has them. Sometimes they dont get delivered on the day your expecting them but thats USPS fault not netflix. Netflix has distribution centers but uses the post office to deliver them.
The online service is good. They tend to have a mix of good movies and tv series to bad ones. Usually it nothing brand new. The quality is can be really good looking if you have a good internet connection.

Netflix is great. Large selection, movies great delivered quickly. Been using the Instant Viewing feature a lot lately, good for catching up on old TV shows.

I have both services.
Netflix is too slow on the new release availability and Blockbuster allows me to trade in whatever I get in the mail for anything in the store. That's where I rent the new releases.
I keep the 8.99 Netflix plan only for the unlimited instant watch because I bought a set top box for streaming to my TV. The 1 mailer at a time is a bonus.

QFT.
I had my account on hold and my debit card expired, so I changed it on the site and it re-activated my account and charged me for a month before I wanted it to. So I called them up ready to rip someone a new asshole, and it turned out to be a very polite (i.e. white) woman who graciously put my account back on hold and removed the charge. I was stunned.
Netflix is fantastic, and they have pretty much EVERYTHING. I can't even list the number of foreign titles that I've been able to get off of them.
They're definitely worth the money, but they're not perfect, I can think of two criticisms:
1. They are slow with availability of just released titles, as mentioned above. This doesn't mean that Netflix won't have copies of new titles, they absolutely will have it the day it comes out - but good luck getting it right away. You'll usually have to wait in "line."
2. The throttling. I don't care if they've lost a lawsuit over this shit, they still absolutely do it to you. They do it to me at least every other month, sometimes monthly. Although if you're just getting one dvd out at a time, you might be fine.
That said, the positives FAR, FAR outweigh the negatives.
