but now think they are awful.
Since Netflix is streaming throught the Xbox, I've had a chance to watch movies that I thought I liked. But after watching them again, I cannot figure out why I thought they were so great.
1. Empire Records: First time I saw this I thought it was a cool liitle movie about a record store. Fun to watch. I watched it again last week and loathed it. I hated every character in the movie. A bunch of "too cool for the room" fuckwads that think working at a record store somehow places them a few rungs above the social ladder. The characters are awful. Three that stand out:
a. Lucas: Should have been beaten to death
b. Jane: "Toughgirl with a heart of gold". Wish her suicide attempt would have been successful
c. Mark: A complete fucking retard. Nobody in real life would hang out with this shitbag.
The rest are whiny douchebags that have some inane problem that needs to be resolved (ie...A.J. needs to tell Corey that he loves her, but just doesn't know how) by the time the credits roll. At the end Rene Zellwiger sings, which sounds like a cat getting an anal probe with a hot fish hook. I don't understand why I liked this movie.
2. Extreme Justice: First time I saw it, I thought it was a great action movie. A group of L.A. cops working under the radar. They catch violent criminals in the act and then slaughter them, claiming self defense. Watched it again and could not believe how jaw droppingly bad it was. Imagine "Training Day" but done really really badly. Lou Diamond Phillips can't act. He was a good Ritchie Valens, a decent Chaves y Chaves and thats it. During his first scene in the movie I thought they were filming a parody of a cop movie. But no, this was the real movie.
Pure cliche' cop action movie:
a. Alcoholic Leader--check
b. Black cop--check
c. Crazy over the top white guy--check
d. Hard as nails gruff police captain--check
e. Snitch that threatens to take the whole thing down--check
It just sucks.
Those are just two of the many movies that time or better taste have ruined for me.

Except for the horrible dancing around the library scene that almost wrecks the movie for me, I disagree with you only because I still find that movie entertaining.

This tv horror movie called Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark. When I was a kid it scared the shit out of me and was one of those movies that stuck in your head for years. It actually has somewhat of a cult following amongst horror enthusiasts and was very hard to come by for a long time until the internet came along. I was able to track down a copy on torrents a few years back and it was laughably bad. Very disappointing.
I actually have the opposite happen more often with movies, I'll hate them the first time and like them the second time I watch them.

Spider-Man 2 and 3. The first one is the only one that was done really well. Two had some okay parts in it, but I hate how they started to humanize the villains to almost make you feel sorry for Doc Ock and later the Sandman. They rushed the whole Venom thing in the third one and should have ended with Eddie Brock becoming Venom.

Thats what they get when they try to force villians on Rami. He wanted only sandman but the company forced him to add venom so alot of people think he made it bad on purpose. For the next film he wouldn't agree to do it unless they let him have complete creative control.

Tim Burton's Batman.
I first saw it when I was 15. I saw it the day the movie came out. I didn't even have seat, I had to sit in the aisle. As soon as the film was released on VHS, I went out and bought it.
Years later, its not a bad film but its not as great as I thought it was. I think my hatred for Tim Burton has helped sour me on the film as well. Before anybody asks, I came to this realization before I saw the Dark Knight.

Heat. I just watched it, after 5-6 years, and it's average to boring. I remember loving it the first time, for some reason.
Also Scarface, Mission Impossible (I, the others sucked to begin with), a few Jack Nicholson movies from the nineties (still love the early stuff).
Oh yeah, and Natural Born Killers and Fight Club. There's two pieces of shit (actually, Fight Club isn't a piece of shit, so one piece of shit and one average movie) which I just lost every interest in, after first thinking they're amazing.

Then we would have to fix his awful womans lips.

Robin Hood. I can't believe I actually thought Kevin Costner was a good actor at one time.
I watched that again recently with my wife. She'd never seen it and I went on and on about how good it was.
What a hunk of shit. Alan Rickman was the only redeming factor in that movie.
Another one: Pump up the Volume. I thought this was one of the best movies I had ever seen. My friend Craig and I watched it at least 4 times in the theater. When I saw it on DVD, I told my wife, "Holy Shit!!! We have to get this!!! I love this movie!!!"
One of the most horribly acted movies of all time. Plot holes that didn't make sense, horrible dialouge. The best part is seeing Samantha Mathis's very nice tits half way through. The rest of the movie was nowhere near as good as I remembered it.

I am probably the only one who saw this movie, but when I was a kid there was a Disney movie starring Kurt Russell called "The Strongest Man in the World". Whenever it came on TV you couldnt drag me away from it. When video stores started popping up I was asking them if they had the movie or if they knew when it would be released.
Well a few years ago it came out and I bought it the very second I saw it and was so giddy I couldnt wait to get home and watch it. What a fucking borefest. I have zero clue why I loved that movie so much. I was so unentertained I almost fell alseep numerous times. Very disappointed

Oh god, any of the early movies staring the first SNL cast, like Woman in Red, LA Story (Steve Martin, not an actual cast member), Haunted Honeymoon (terrible, but still has a special place in my heart cause i've got a soft spot for Gilda), etc. Even Caddyshack and Stripes are looking shop-worn.
The Princess Bride is losing a little luster as it gets older, but still a good flick I'd show my kids.

When I was in my early teens, I watched a bunch of Mel Brooks films and thought "History of the World, Part I" was hilarious. I watched it recently after probably 15-18 years of not seeing it and could not believe how unfunny and cringy hack it was.
Also caught the first "Batman" by Tim Burton, and realized that it was a lot closer to the campy TV show than I ever realized as a 14 year old the first time I saw it. However, even at that age I still could not accept Michael Keaton as Batman.
I am a big fan of the Lord of the Rings films, but even I get to the point where I go "Jesus Christ! How fucking long do they drag this on for [pretty much every scene with Frodo, Sam and Golumn in the 3rd film]??"
I tried to force myself to like the Star Wars prequels when they first came out to not betray the 8 year old in me who lived the originals. But now everytime they come on Spike, I cannot help but say outloud: "What dogshit these films were!"

UHF its dumb comedy so when I was younger I thought it was histerical now eh.
The first tim burton batman. Its more of how the dark knight destroyed it for me because I can't help but to compare the movies and the joker seems to do close to nothing compared to the dark knight joker.Oh no the joker is having a parade, killing mob leaders, and has his own cosmetics line. Compared to destruction and carnage of blowing up hospitals, robing banks, and killing police and high ranking officials.

Night of the Living Dead (original b&w).
I'm sorry, I know this is a cult classic movie. I will say it......fuck it. Fast zombies are much scarier then slow zombies. I have been picked on, ridiculed and pointed at like the fat kid in elementary school that split his pants durning gym by the slow zombie lovers. They mock me, or try to argue that DOD remake was not a zombie movie, just a movie about people infected with a terrible virus that turned them into canibals.
Fuck your slow ass zombies. Fuck them in thier stinky zombie asses. Night of the Living dead was an insult to a person like me that owns assault rifles and multiple handguns. If a few dozen slow zombies show up at my house the movie would of lasted for 2 minutes including credits thanking the fine organizations like the NRA and firearm manufacturers like Bushmaster, Colt, Sig Saurer, and Glock.
Night Of The Living Dead - Original is SHIT.
