This thought just popped into my head while I was taking out Dead Rising to put in my XBox 360 again.

I would dare say zombies are a bit of a fad right now; there's been a resurgence as of late in putting them into films, and at least 3 fantastic books have been written in the past couple of years with the undead as a main subject. And video games? Resident Evil, even if the series has evolved beyond just zombies, is almost a household name by now.

So why the FUCK has nobody pitched a pilot that got a network's attention?

It's not even that far fetched of an idea - the beginning episode could open up with a simple rolling shot of a decrepit world, overrun by the apocalypse. The show could be about one main survivor, looking for someone or something, or a band of survivors with their own stories like Lost.

This kind of shit would be perfect for FX or even HBO if they're worried about violent content.

The brits had one : Dead Set (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1285482/)

It was only 5 episodes though, and is really like a long movie. It took place on the set of Big Brother as zombies take over England. A few survivors hole up in the Big Brother house and fend them off.

It was pretty good. The zombies looked like Shaun Of The Dead zombies and ran like the Dawn Of The Dead remake zombies. Has some pretty good gore effects too.

I think because zombies are one dimensional characthers. Where as with vampires and werewolves, there is more mythology to work with. Plus I can see myself cheering for a vampire or a werewolf. Whether they're a hero, anti-hero, or villian. Zombies are just mindless montsers with no emotions or depth. Finally, they fucking creep most people out.

There was a pilot for CBS a couple years ago that was more about the undead, than zombies, but still pretty close.

It stared the girl from that Joan of Arcadia series. All the sudden the dead are digging themselves out of their graves and going back to their old lives. One of the undead was a cop who was abusive to his family, and was murdered, now he's back acting like a cop, while looking for his murderer. Really not that good.

When I think of a bunch of survivors fighting against the post apocalyptic world, I remember an awful early 90's fox show when I was a kid. It was all about a group of people living in a cabin after a nuclear war, it was really horrible.

Wasn't it that comedy "Whoops?"

Amber Tamblyn fighting zombies sounds very spankable.

I'm available if anyone wants to make one. I always wanted to make a zombie flick. Real shocking shit like zombie r@ape and biting off cocks & taints.

Jesus has to be one of the characters because after all, it is the apocalypse.

Two words: Too gory. A good zombie show would be too violent, too bloody and by extension too expensive to produce.

A weekly HBO series based on the comic "The Walking Dead" would effin' rule. If you haven't checked it out before, I highly recommend it.

Yup, Woops. Had to look up the name. It was an apocalyptic Gilligan's Island as every week was some whacky plot that would reset itself by the end.

Zombies are mindless, one dimensional characters, true, but the best zombie stories are about the victims trying to survive. The zombies are the "force of nature" type backdrop.

My idea is part zombies, part hospital drama. Basically, just picture House only everyone is a zombie, and replace all the dialog with either groaning or the word "brains". It could also work as a courtroom drama or maybe a crime solving type show where the zombies look for evidence. And by evidence I mean brains.

You could just do a series about the 2008 election....

It really is bizarre how after over 200 years, Americans for the first time mindlessly voted en mass based on personality and not the issues.

Here's the answer. Too expensive, and too redundant. It would get very tired after a few episodes.
