Welcome to America..... So this is what this country is all about? Putting a little girl who was abducted and sexually assualted vs. a soldier who was captured and tortured and sexually assaulted. I opened the Globe t.v. guide today and low and behold on the left page was the pic of the Lynch story to air tonight at nine on a channel, and on the right page was the Smart abduction story pic on the oppisite side also airing at nine on another station .... FUCKING RIVAL PRIMETIME STATIONS ARE AIRING THIS SHIT!
This is some sick horrific shit and just goes to show you how media works...
I'm seriously discusted and feel bad for Elizebeth Smart, Lynch want's the money and the american government want's to show the heroic effort that saved her which was great but the government is using it not to hail the troops that saved her but to recruit others...and then you have that little Elizebeth Smart girl who has been through a terrable ordeal and now is being exploited for money--good job Mr. Smart for cashing in on this.

I agree 100% with that one. The girl has admitted that she remembers next to nothing about the ordeal. I didn't feel it was necessary to do a tv movie. Once I read the disclaimer at the beginning, I turned the channel. The fact that all of the other soldiers in her company who were either killed or captured during that ambush, whose stories have been virtually ignored by the media, truly makes me sick.
As for the Smarts, they're pathetic human beings for exploiting their daughter's ordeal for the all mighty buck.

kjLynch, now 20, says she feels hurt to have received praise she says her colleagues deserved. "It hurt in a way that people would make up stories that they had no truth about. They did not know whether I did that or not. Only I would have been able to know that, because the other four people on my vehicle aren't here to tell that story. So I would have been the only one able to say, 'Yeah, I went down shooting.' But I didn't. I did not.
"I don't look at myself as a hero," she added. "My heroes are Lori [Pfc. Lori Piestewa], the soldiers that are over there, the soldiers that were in that car beside me, the ones that came and rescued me." Piestewa was one of the 11 members of Lynch's unit, the 507th Maintenance, who were killed in the ambush near the southern Iraqi town of Nasiriyah
k
i take some of the thing i said about her , now i mad that they made a movie about her but not the unit

I thought the same thing too for awhile, especially after reading that MSNBC article, but.... to be fair, Jessica Lynch didn't ask to be deemed a "hero" by society. The media, along with the Army made her one. As for the book, and the movie, hell, the girl still can't go to the bathroom without help, so why not make as much money as possible? There's still a rumor that she was sodomized too. She's only 19 years old, and wanted an adventure, which was more than she could ask for. She doesn't remember alot of what happened, which could be the sign of post trumatic stress disorder. She said to Dianne Sawyer tonight that she hopes to never recall those memories, and I don't blame her.
I support the US Army, but I think this whole thing was done as a propaganda tool. This is a great way to recruit people, showing them that the US Army is an army of one, etc. It's just a shame that the captives and others alike didn't get the recognition that PFC. Lynch got as well.
As for the Smarts, yeah, they are attention whores, and don't even need the freakin' money. What did we learn kids? That America is ruled by the all mighty dollar.

Elizabeth Smart is as wacky as her parents. She couldn't have walked away in the entire nine months she was gone? She was blocks away from her house. She lied to the police about her identity when they found her. She claimed that she was "brainwashed" but was completely recovered by the time the cops brought her home. When she was asked by a reporter how she was doing last week, she said that she was pissed off because she wasn't allowed to play herself in the TV movie. I seriously think that she got to know her alleged "kidnapper" when he was working in her house and ran away with him. She's the white Tawana Brawley. Maddox has a pretty funny take on it: LINK (http://maddox.xmission.com/c.cgi?u=elizabeth_smart)
