Hey guys,

So, I'm going to be mounting a 50 inch Plasma TV on my wall here in the next month or so. So, I was wondering if anyone out there has any recommended mounts. I'm thinking something dual armed with articulation on both the x and y axis. Doesn't need to be a whole lot of range though.

Thoughts?

I just got one and it is a beast, 48.99 or so . less than 60 with shipping and it articulates from the wall and tilts up and down

mine is a 42" and this mount will handle up to 60"

If you can, get one that puts it out about a foot or so from the wall. We had one on our plasma years ago and it made the thing run hot because it was only a couple inches out from the wall which contributed to poor air circulation.

EDIT: That one posted above looks great.

Which is why I went with lcd... plasmas run crazy hot and they're power hogs. Hold your hand over the top of a plasma set... it's like holding your hand over a toaster.

Whatever improvement you get in picture quality(if any) with a plasma, doesn't justify the extra power it gobbles or the heat it puts out.

I was about to buy a 50 inch plasma. Are they really that hot?

I bought a stand for my LCD, it doesn't look so bad.

I think they have made improvements in keeping the temps down on plasmas, my panasonic is just normal temperature.

Yeah man, mine runs pretty hot. Enough that it can make the living room in my apartment uncomfortable some times (only after it's been on like all day though).

I'm moving into an actual house next month though so I'll welcome the extra space. Next TV I buy will most likely be an LCD...Plasma used to get the nod because of MUCH higher contrast, but the newest LCD's have really pretty much made that difference go away.

Thanks for the feedback to everyone else.

Yeah... they put cooling fans in them. It keeps the internal temp down, but it doesn't decrease the amount of heat they put out... and then you've got that much more power that the fans are consuming.

My friend has a Sony plasma, and when the 3 cooling fans kick on he actually has to turn up the volume to drown out the noise they make.

Wall mounts in the store I looked at were around $100. X2 on the plasma being hot.

x2 on Monoprice. You wont find any better deals.

I got a tilt mount for my 32" for.......$23.00

It works great, i didnt use the lag bolts they provide (they are cheap and alot of people report them snapping when installing) but $2.00 at Home Depot solved that problem.
