Well, I didn't see any posts about it, but I must say that a friend of mine made the most offensive comment in the bar last night and HORRIFIED people:
"I know this sounds terrible, but I have to tell you the first thing I thought of when I heard an earthquake killed 40,000 people in Iran. Hey, at least mother nature is on our side in the war against terror"

Well, I was telling one of the guys I work with and I chuckled a little when saying it and the guy I was telling and some people that overheard me jumped all over my case abou it.
My feelings on the matter? It sucks that many people died in an earthquake (kinda rediculous in this day and age when you consider how many people died in CALIFORNIA from an earthquake of similar magnitude) and I feel bad that all of the kids/families/women/mend died, but you have to think that there were at least a few terrorist asswipes in that number too.

Your friend is not alone. When they first reported the quake and
estimated about 20,000 dead, I turned to my wife and said:
"Good! That's 20,000 less potential terrorists we have to worry
about!" Let them all rot in hell.

How ironic would it be if Bin Laden were hiding in Iran at the time and died in the earthquake? That'd truly be Bizarre-o World.....

I lvoe how the president is going give aid.. Then he is going to pull a Hilary Clinton and make the aid political to go to the SHA and say..
Bush: " Ok we've helped you and now let's talk Terrorists.. Where are they? We want their names, addresses, what they eat for dinner...
oh and by the way that NUCLEAR powerplant you guys have.. GUESS WHAT?
You will be usuing that anymore for weapons grade plutonium.. We might let you use it for energy purposes...
I think this is going to be the policital push needed to topple TEHRAN's gov't...
THE GREAT SATAN IS IN THE HOUUUSSEEE!!!!!!!

you know what, F THEM!!! If they want aid, then we should be allowed to attach as many strings as want. I hate when people bitch that the US "isn't the worlds police force, and should butt out..." but as soon as some hovel of a country has a disaster the same people bitch that the US "is the richest country, and the only superpower, so it is the duty of this country to help those in need...". Make up your f'ing minds.
America stands as one of the strongest nations on earth, and is still one of the youngest, we should do what we must to stay in that position. We should act as a military force when needed, and give aid when needed. The politics attached to the aid is not aimed at the people of iran, but at the government. Most of the aid agencies on earth are funded with US cash anyway, so stop your bitching.

I got this off of the AP wire.
DEAN BLAMES BUSH ON QUAKE
-Washington, DC
Democratic front runner, Howard Dean has now publicized that he believed the earthquake in Iran was due to oil drilling in the now under US Control, Iraq. Dean says "If there were less oil drilling, by this big business cowboy, we wouldnt have people dying."
Dean has said that America has no right in invading Iraq. He has also said that the world is no more safe with Hussian out of power.
"If I ran this country, I would garuentee we would not be in Iraq for oil now" Dean continues "wed be getting it from our good allies, Saudi Arabi"

Umm I guess Dr. DEAN didn't realise that IRAQ was producing oil under SADDAM 's control.
Dean is an idiot I was watching HARDBALL with Chris Mathews.. Every question Mathew's asked DEAN was like " YOU CAN' T ASK ME THAT NOW!!" Mathews was like "YEA I CAN, because if you get elected you will never answer me."
He is going to lose by 30 points.
Next election is going to be a REAGAN LIKE LANDSLIDE.
Jobless claims are already being projected for 2004 as the lowest in years. The economy is growing by leaps and bounds. The stock market is running on all cylinders, even with the dollar at low levels against the EURO.. GOLD broke $400 bucks an ounce, wasn't suppose to end the year even close to that mark.
Business expansion and spending is up and so is Luxury spending.
But oh I forgot according to Dean and DICK GEPHARDT, and DICK KERRY, and DICK CARVELL, and DICK SHarpton, and DICK EDWARDS.. this is the worst economy since the creation of the dollar bill...

I guess you missed the sequel?
http://www.freep.com/news/nw/iran3_20040103.htm
The State Department said the Iranian government informed U.S. diplomats that the offer to send Dole with additional aid came at a bad time, given the crisis in the city of Bam, where an earthquake last week killed at least 30,000 people.
The Iranians said "it would be preferable to hold such a visit in abeyance," said State Department deputy spokesman Adam Ereli. Dole, a Republican senator from North Carolina, was formerly president of the American Red Cross.
