SPARTA, Ky. (AP) - Speedway Motorsports Inc. owner Bruton Smith
expects Lowe's to end its title sponsorship of SMI's Charlotte-area
track at the end of the season.

Smith said SMI will continue to have a business relationship
with the home improvement chain, but he anticipates Lowe's Motor
Speedway will revert back to Charlotte Motor Speedway when the
title sponsorship deal expires later this year.

The Sports Business Journal reported Friday that Lowe's would
end its 11-year sponsorship of the 1.5-mile oval due to financial
reasons.

amazing, I passed on opportunities to run marketing programs with Nascar because the price was too high and I couldn't quantify results to justify it. I always wondered how the big companies analyze and justify that marketing spend. Looks like when the economy turns and they have to act like the little guy and really manage marketing dollars, Nascar is one of the first things they cut. Can't be good for the sport.

Formula One racing could be dead if this economy doesn't get better. Honda and at least one other auto maker have said recently that they're out.

What's that got to do with Lowe's Motor Speedway??
