Did anyone else notice that half of the Congress applauded when Bush said the Patriot Act is due to expire later this year, and the other half applauded when he said it needed to be renewed? A pure cringe moment.

If someone did not see this topic, this could really be taken out of context

Damn straight. I'm all for the Patriot Act. If we get rid of it, the Police and the CIA will lose a good portion of their Internet surveillance power. Instead of just asking a network operator for permission to search the net, they would most likely need a warrant, which may take alot longer...if it happens at all. I don't understand why so many people are against the Patriot Act, when it can help prevent another attack. And if you've got nothing to hide, why worry? But I guess people feel they need civil liberties and they should have their privacy on the Internet. But don't forget that you're also giving terrorists the privacy to talk and plan attacks.

It's kinda funny that the Democrats originally demanded for the passage of the Patriot Act. It passed the US Senate 98-1, which included votes from Kerry and Edwards. But, of course, now that the election is right around the corner, the democrats won't back it. Ugh.

I love how Tom Brady was invited by Bush and they met. I guess he met President Bush and the family, and he was quoted as saying "i'm here because President George W. Bush is a winner." It was talked about today I guess from what they were saying Kerry said Brady supported him......apparently Kerry is full of shit.

It was also told that Tom Brady standed for EVERY plan/point Bush made, everybody loved it. Funny shit

My problem with the State of the Union was this, HE DIDN"T SAY ANYTHING. It was a typical Bush speech, vague and ambiguous. The only concrete thing he said was that he was against gay marriage. There were no details.

I listen to the SotUA every year. When its done I go on the net and read the transcript so I can see it in raw forme without the applause or Ted Kennedy shaking his head. It was an awful read, as far as past addresses go it was a very poor speech. I hated that the first thing he did was what he does in every speech "I was president on 9/11"

Even being vague he left out some key facts. He said in the next 5 years he would cut the deficit in half. The problem with that statement is that his programs for healthcare, tax cuts, medicare, the military, going to mars, etc. all really take hold in about 5 years. The estimates are that it will double the yearly budget deficit from where it is today. It is exactly what Reagan did, which created a recession, whish is why Bush's dad had to raise taxes and not get re elected. Out of the 3 Daddy Bush is the intelligent one and of course the one that got screwed.

Last thing (I [promise). I always use this analogy for W. He is the kind of guy that would have been one of my drinking buddies in college, a lot of fun to hang out with. But, I wouldn't want most/any of them for president either.
