Does this really need to be on 10 hours a day?
I miss Rome/ATH/PTI...

It's the most annoying thing on TV. Overall, the teams are shit. They have 2 good pitchers on each team who strike everyone out, but the fielders are dog shit.

Also, I don't remember playing on such tiny fields when I was 12. And we didn't have fences, so a 150 foot pop-up was "Crushed over the wall". The bases are 10 feet apart basically.
You can't steal or lead off until the ball crosses the plate, and can't run on a dropped third strike, which is all lame.

And finally, the announcers are such cheese-dicks. They're fawning over 11 and 12 year old boys as if they're million dollar superstars, all while constantly reminding you that this is for fun and just a game.

You can't have it both ways. You can't show this shit all day long, have in depth scouting reports on hitters and talk about who so-and-so is the best SS in some hayseed state, and then talk about how some kid needs to just relax and have fun.

I do love seeing a kid cry though, it's the best. And you know exactly when it's coming. The best is when the pitcher has to keep going with tears coming down his cheeks. Boo fucking Hoo.

I wonder what percentage of these goons go on to even play H.S ball.

And I also like how the Asian teams seem to do nothing but bunt. Swing the bat you women.

I'm still trying to figure out why the Saudi Arabian team has a little white girl and a kid that looks like he is 16 years old playing for them.

I agree about missing ATH and PTI. My weekdays just feel so empty without them.

Their stupid espn kid reporter is just embarassing to watch.

I find it funny to see all the 12yrs who cry when making errors and/or striking out.

This...
You're talking about the little Italian looking kid?

I loved this moment as well, very cringey.
"Can I just hit this batter..."
And the kid that comes in definitely has a Retard-Face.

He says "get this batter"

I think he says "Hit this batter"
It was after 2-3 wild pitches, and he obviously doesn't want to pitch anymore

If you love seeing kids cry, good luck with yours.

All I know is in ten years of covering sports at all levels, Little League districts, states and regionals were the best things I got to do. I'm sure there were political selections in a backroom when the local all-stars teams were being selected, but as far as the kids themselves went, I could see it in them that they didn't care about anything other than playing in those big games - girls didn't matter, popularity didn't matter, the major leagues didn't matter.

I think you can have it both ways in terms of indepth coverage and keeping things in the amateur context - the only fine journalistic line you tread is if a kid screws up horribly in a Bill Buckner-like fashion, and everyone involved knows that the error was his and his only.

I will say that I don't agree with the superhyping high school and college kids all the time, but that is what's going to happen when the interest is heavy.

Covering the Little League states and regionals was the last moment I loved baseball - and I went on to work in the Majors.

I'm getting a bit tired of all the coverage, but I'll live. [mean American guy]I wish they'd just show the US games and tell the foreign kids to go screw until the finals.[/mean American guy]

I did really enjoy it a few years ago when they had the coach mic'd when he went to the mound and his pitcher said something to the effect of "that MF'er can't catch the GD ball." Definitely made my night to hear a 12 year old cussing like a sailor. That was in the days before the 7 second delay, I guess.

I was hoping for more little league cursing, but this is all I found.

Oh, Coach Paul!

I love how the coach slapped the kid's arm and "shhhhh'd" him. That's gotta be embarassing.

I tried to find the clip I was talking about, but couldn't find it. A kid in the outfield made an error costing the team a run or two, the coach comes out for a meeting with the pitcher and catcher and before the coach can say a word the pitcher says "if that mf'er could catch the GD ball, we'd be out of the inning." For some reason I'm thinking it was during one of the US regional final games.
