Indians minor league pitcher Kazuhito Tadano wants to be forgiven for appearing in a gay porn video in which he engaged in a homosexual act.

Tadano says he took part in the video three years ago when he was a college student and calls it a one-time mistake.

The 23-year-old signed with the Indians last March after being shunned by Japanese baseball teams.

The Indians think he can make their club this spring.

He played for the Indians' AA affiliate in Akron last season.

Tadano gave few details about the video, which he made after his sophomore year at Rikkyo University.

He did say through an interpreter that he's not gay.

Tadano's admission will certainly draw attention to homosexuality in baseball.

The New York Mets' Mike Piazza held a press conference in 2002 to say that he's straight after a newspaper gossip columnist suggested that the All-Star catcher is gay.
