LETS GO RANGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!
We have a holdout as training camp starts tomorrow. Barring a last minute change of mind, Brandon Dubinsky will be a holdout and not be allowed in the Rangers facilities.

Oh and this is pretty cool....I'm at the Giants game yesterday with Badcellphoneguy. This beautiful black Audi S8 rolls up, guy asks out the window if this was the media lot. I do a double take and realize that it's Sean fucking Avery. He parked directly across from us and had to readjust his car 5x to get it straight. Said hi to him, BCPG wished him good luck on the season...then Avery asked us where Gate D Will Call was. Good times.

because the guys in hartford suck. The rangers never finish at the bottom of the league hence there are no top draft pick guys. However there will likely be 3-5 rookies on this team so even though they suck they are bringing them up

could be true but what if dubi is the one being a douche and asking for ridiculous contract. Maybe he wants 3+ mil. Sorry but he isn't worth it, if he thought he was maybe he should've gone to arbitration like cally and z. I personally think he should have the same contract as cally but if u look at numbers alone he is probably and <1 mil player

Decent read from Brooks about the Dubi situation (http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/rangers/dubinsky_must_wait_to_hit_rangers_MdkKsi2pYOtyY6Rp WgUjjI)
Dubinsky must wait to hit Rangers paydirt
By the winter of 1998, Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera had established themselves as integral parts of what was then the Yankees' embryonic dynasty. Jeter had won Rookie of the Year and Rivera had mastered, if not invented, the role of bullpen set-up man for the 1996 world champions. They each followed with superb seasons in 1997, Rivera as the closer, for the club that lost the ALDS to Cleveland.
Surely each merited significant raises off the $550,000 for which they had both played in 1997. The problem was that second-year players had no leverage whatsoever under the terms of Major League Baseball's collective bargain agreement. As such, the Yankees renewed each contract for $750,000 apiece for 1998.
That meant that in 1998, while starring for the team that went 125-50 in winning the World Series, Jeter earned less money than utility man Luis Sojo, who played for $800,000, and Rivera earned less money than matchup reliever Graeme Lloyd, who was in at $875,000.
Said Jeter in spring training upon his contract being renewed: "I can't negotiate."
Said Rivera: "I've got to wait for my turn."
A year later, Jeter was earning $5M, Rivera was at $4.25M. Neither ever looked back, and neither ever exactly found himself wanting for subway fare.
Memo to Brandon Dubinsky: if Jeter and Rivera could wait their turn, so can you; if Jeter and Rivera could understand and live within the terms of their respective sport's labor agreement, so can you.
If that means that Dubinsky, now entering the fourth day of his Ranger training-camp holdout, plays for less money this season than Enver Lisin, who is in for $790,000, then so be it. Jeter didn't take it as a personal insult that he played for less than Sojo.
Players and management each own tools under the CBA. They are there to be utilized; no apologies necessary.
A Group II free agent coming off Entry Level without arbitration rights such as Dubinsky, has no leverage absent an offer sheet. Dubinsky, who recorded 41 points last season and 40 points as a rookie, was not able to attract an offer sheet. If he had, he would have owned the hammer. One can be quite sure Dubinsky would not have apologized if a competing club's offer sheet had backed GM Glen Sather into a cap corner.
Sather thus owes Dubinsky no apology for using the CBA to his advantage. The Rangers have offered Dubinsky $700,000 on a one-year deal when, indeed, Sather could have stood on a qualifier of $522,500.
The Rangers now could reduce their offer to Dubinsky, who is seeking $1.4M, to the league minimum of $500,000 if they so choose.
Could Sather come up to, say, $850,000?
Sure he could and he probably should if that would get the deal done immediately. Let's not pretend that the Rangers wouldn't be better off with Dubinsky in camp. But there is no indication that Dubinsky, who is seeking approximately $1.4M this year, would accept that offer. And the Rangers have no reason to negotiate against themselves.
Fact is, under terms of the CBA, the Rangers are under no obligation at all at this stage of the process to offer Dubinsky a one-year deal of any kind that would serve as a bridge to salary arbitration next summer, when the center could be in line to get $3-3.5M off a good season.
Sather could pull his one-year offer at any moment and present Dubinsky with a two-year, take-it-or-leave it contract worth, say, $1.1M total. That, of course, though would set off a chain of events that would lead to Dubinsky's departure from Broadway. But if this current stalemate persists, it is likely to lead to Dubinsky leaving the Rangers in a trade, probably sooner rather than later.
By the way, pay little attention to head coach John Tortorella's take on things. Of course he's going to attempt to apply pressure by whatever means necessary to get an important player into camp. If it means calling Dubinsky and agent Kurt Overhardt, "stupid," well, that's what it means. But it doesn't mean Tortorella's voice is constructive in the process.
Indeed, it's at least equally as "stupid" for the Rangers to have rejected Dubinsky's request to borrow his own equipment so he could use it while training on his own, as The Post has learned that they did yesterday, though perhaps Sather would have been more amenable had the request come from either the player or his agent, and not through a third party. But still.
The Blueshirts don't have a first-line center. They want to give Dubinsky, who did not have a particularly impressive sophomore season last year, the first chance to grab that spot and make it his own. Dubinsky is going to have to decide, and pretty soon, whether he's going to accept it.
Derek Jeter waited his turn. So did Mariano Rivera. They had no choice. Neither does Brandon Dubinsky if he wants to be a Ranger.

It blows my mind the Rangers picked up those dmen for that price last summer. Yet they take a hard line approach to retaining they're restricted free agents like Avery and Dubinsky.
Yeah it really hinders the Rangers ability to make adjustments to the roster. At least they got rid of Gomez for Gaborik.

RANGERS SIGN RFA DUBINSKY TO 2-YEAR, $3.7 MILLION DEAL
The New York Rangers re-signed restricted free agent Brandon Dubinsky to a 2-year, $3.7 million deal on Saturday.
Last season, he scored 13 goals and added 28 assists for 41 points in 82 games. The 23-year-old also amassed 112 minutes in penalties.
There had been speculation before training camp began that Dubinsky was being tabbed to centre the Rangers' top line with Marian Gaborik on the wing.
This will be the Alaska native's third full season the NHL.

Amusing blog entry combining the Rangers & the Fall TV Schedule...
FALL TV PREVIEW RANGERS STYLE:
And now for something different. While browsing my Entertainment Weekly magazine, I noticed a lot of new shows starting up. Here are some excerpts!
EXTREME MAKEOVER: RANGER EDITION: This show has been on forever.
SURVIVOR: NYC: 10 Rookies move into the veterans undersized apartment in Manhattan for training camp. Each day one is voted “off the island” as there is only room for three. Watch as Sean irritates his roommates by “rocking” his “straight Speedo” while cooking breakfast, ridiculing their lack of fashion-sense and bringing home Paris Hilton and an Olsen twin at three in the morning before Tortorella’s first day of camp.
THE AMAZING RACE: Enver Lisin challenges Rico Fata and Fred Sjostrom for the title of “Fastest Skater Who Can’t Score!”.
BIG BROTHER: A documentary on the Staal household, where Marc suffers through yet another summer Stanley Cup Party he can’t enjoy.
TWO AND A HALF MEN: A comedy starring linemates Vinny Prospal, Marian Gaborik and Sean Avery (Who lost half his man-card for interning at Vogue).
THE BIGGEST LOSER:- Starring Wade Redden. Check local listings for a blue-line near you.
AMERICA’S GOT TALENT: Ryan Callahan, Brandon Dubinsky, Matt Gilroy and the
Chrises (Drury, & Higgins) compete for a spot on the US Olympic team. Watch as
they hide Henrik Lundqvist’s cup the night before the big game.
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE?: Starring Donald Brashear.
TRAUMA: Hopefully NOT starring Marian Gaborik!
THE FORGOTTEN: A drama starring Nigel Dawes, Petr Prucha, Scott Gomez, Blair Betts & Paul Mara.
HELL’S KITCHEN: Head Chef John Tortorella searches for the right ingredients to make Ranger Soup. Watch as he stirs the pot, seasons with plenty of salty language, then throws it all in the pressure cooker!
HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER: The Trash Talk Techniques of Sean Avery.
HANK: ‘Nuff said!
BIG BANG THEORY: A comedy about the Rangers attempts to revive their impotent power-play, starring Marian Gaborik as the “Bang” for the Rangers Bucks!
FRINGE: Fourth Line hopefuls Brian Boyle, Donald Brashear and Aaron Voros search for the mysterious, elusive entity known as icetime.
LOST: Brandon Dubinsky and his agent find themselves on a mysterious island where they are stalked by a Cigar-Smoke Monster and can’t get to training camp.
PRIVATE PRACTICE: Also starring Brandon Dubinsky.
FLASH FORWARD: A fun fantasy about the future of the Rangers after Glen Sather retires.
BONES: No comment from CBS as to the rumor that the show has been renamed “Bone-Heads” featuring a bunch of wannabe bloggers bickering over line combinations.
Of course a lot of these shows won’t last very long, and there are sure to be mid-season replacements (Two Tom Renney Projects are in production, The Mentalist and Bored to Death, the latter featuring his Power Play ). Since this blog seems to have multiple sources, I am sure that there are some insiders who can let us know of other shows on tap!
oh and if you're bored and want to...1994 Stanley Cup Finals Game 3 is being aired right now on NHL Home Ice 204

The comparisons to Gilroy being like or reminding fans and TV media of a Brian Leetch are absurd. Matt Gilroy is already 25 years old has only played in ONLY five pre-season games and by that age Brian had already played in 353 NHL games scored 78 goals and recorded 289 assists for a total of 367 Points. Leetch accumulated all this while taking care of his defensive zone in phenomenal fashion. If you feel the need to compare Gilroy to anybody how about a young James Patrick, that I might buy into.

Ahh...good point.
That 2nd fight between Brashear & Sugden was a lot better than the first...Brashear was getting his ass kicked until his jersey came pulled up over his head. The way Maloney was talking about how Brashear is still trying to work his way into the swing of things, it seems like he's a little affected by the booing. He'll probably be fine by mid-October...but he's still a cockbag

I think Bobby Sanguinetti better hire a hit man to kill Redden and/or Rozival. What does this kid have to do to break the lineup! Holy Shit!!! If Gaborik can stay healthy and Dubinski can feed him the puck I hope they have extra light bulbs at MSG.
October 3rd can't come soon enough. This year I have done my hockey schedule. I slated to do 188 regular season hockey games (NHL, AHL, ECHL, NCAA, OHL and LNAH). That is also not including playoffs. So I could hit the 200 game mark again this year! YEA ME!!!

I've only heard bits and pieces about Brashear getting booed. Is he booed every time he touches the puck...or is it less frequent? I don't know about it...as an Isles fan, it feels like an equivalent would be Darcy Tucker signing with the Isles...or maybe Dale Hunter signing with the Isles in 1994. It'd be a tough pill to swallow...especially since I've never liked Brashear, in the same manner that I've never liked Chris Simon. Yet, I guess when they kick a rival player's ass or score a game winner, all is eventually forgotten.
Sack of Chisels
09-26-2009, 04:14 AM
I haven't been to any of the games, but I think it's just a small group of people who always need SOMEONE to boo. Also, the N word was thrown around when Weekes was here, so Brash would get treated like shit regardless of his past.. his recent actions just make it worse. I think it'll mostly stop after the first few regular season games.
Fred Told Me
09-26-2009, 04:32 AM
Tortorella blaimed the booing on the media which is ridiculous. He is getting booed because of what he did to Betts last year, and for the many years mostly with the Flyers where he was just a hated goon. If he plays well all will be forgotten, at least for now, but he has to play well for that to happen.

Maybe play harder than the other two rookies. He's not there to beat out Redden and Roszival, he's there to beat out the other 2 young guys, which he simply didn't do. I say trade the kid while he still has value, Del Zotto is a much better player.

Why not? Kid looked great in last year's camp, and looks even more mature this year. Have some balls and keep the guy, he's done just fine. At the very least, he can't be any worse than what we've dealt with the last few years.

camp is one thing, real nhl action is another, there aren't many under 20 defensmen in the nhl ever. what if he wears down after a month or 2? Then you're stuck with him for the rest of the season, of course u can sit him but then u kill his growth by not letting him play. It may be... or it may not be. This team is too hard to read, right now. A little too risky when moving up the ice, but I think once they mesh together a little more, they will not be a bad team.

Hard to play the puck when it bounces a foot over your stick.
Fleury won the game tonight. If it weren't for him it could have been 4-1 Rangers in the 2nd. We played pretty well, our young D was very good. Can't wait to see how he play tomorrow night.

Not surprised that they lost tonight, Pittsburgh always plays them well, plus the team isnt really a team yet, just a bunch of guys playing together hoping to mesh sooner than later. I think they'll be fired up to play at home tomorrow night against Ottawa, though.

I know it's only a media guide, but it's fucking ridiculous. There are other teams in more dire straits that can still give the world to their STHs.
And Semenov is not a Ranger. His wife wouldn't allow him. No joke, the cunt wouldn't move to NY and Semenov is pussy whipped. And now my thoughts about this that I just posted elsewhere.
A huge FUCK YOU to Alexei Semenov for fucking the Rangers over and being a pussy whipped pansy. Asshole waits till today, a few hours before the Rangers play their 1st game of the season to tell them that he's declining his contract because his cunt wife doesn't want to move to NY. So because he's a fucking pussy whipped bitch, Semenov is declining play hockey in the NHL. He calls himself a hockey player? Not anymore.
I was gonna post a rant about this on that faggot-filled Hockey's Future board, but the faggot mods there would have banned me for using the word "pussy" or "bitch."

dude, again i love sean avery, but calling him the 2nd most impactful (how do you spell that, is it even a word?) player on the team is insane on a team that has marion gaborik and a team that has a top line that has 5 goals and 11 points in 3 games. Obviously he hasn't played yet this season but how would these 3 games go differently if he was there, the thing i can think of is him doing something stupid that cost the rangers a penalty and the game like he almost did in the playoffs last year. I like him but they really don't need him going out there and trying to win and/or lose games by himself with silly antics. Those antics are really fun to watch most of the time but seriously come on.

That was some shot by Kotalik. Its amazing that this is the first goal theyve scored tonight considering how theyve shut the Ducks down since the beginning of the game.
it was also amazing that kotalik has one of the best shots on the team yet he goes to the 4th line, interesting.
how did giguere not get at least #3 star, he played a great game. The backup PA announcer sucks a dick, didn't even mention anisimov's goal was the first of his career. He also announced Kotalik as the #2 star with 1 assist, not mentioning a fairly important goal he scored

The 3 Star Selections in Hockey is and always has been a joke. Every home team media including the Rangers has a complete home team bias. Why they can't be objective when selecting the 3 stars is beyond me. The other night the Devils won in Tampa, yet Tampa had all 3 stars. Zach Parise had a goal and the game winning goal in the shootout, yet Ryan Malone who didn't even have a point in the game was the #3 star.

This is a pretty damn exciting team, IMO. I love what Torts has done, and the energy they play with. They got off to a rough start with the PP, but damn it, it started to click. And Avery coming back is just that added "salt and pepper".
On a side note...gotta love the NHL point scoring system. No wins, but 3 points for the Islanders.

i would expect that from tampa, i have a higher standard for the rangers and any other original 6 team or big hockey market team. I was at a game once where kevin lowe was the #1 star and i didn't even know he played. I think most of the time the rangers do it right but last night didn't make sense that prospal got #3 over a goaltender that got pelted by shot after shot and only gave up 2 goals

I thought I heard that it's the media (guys in the press box) who votes for the 3 stars, and usually, they have to turn their votes in midway into the 3rd period. So they usually just put "GWG" on their vote, which means whoever scores the Game Winning Goal (if it's a close game).
Edit...sounds like a fun train ride.

A New York City Police Department officer was arrested Sunday after "displaying a weapon" aboard a Long Island Rail Road train, MTA police said Monday.
Officer David Hendrick, 38, of Brentwood, was off duty while riding a Ronkonkoma-bound train that left Penn Station at 9:17 p.m., MTA police said. Hendrick showed his gun, which police did not describe, while attempting to quiet down a group of unruly passengers following a Rangers game, MTA police said.
MTA and Nassau Police removed Hendrick from the train at Mineola station and arrested him on menacing charges, MTA police said.
NYPD officials declined to comment Monday and said they had not yet decided whether he will face any departmental disciplinary charges, including suspension.

Bertuzzi tried to fight him a few times for Moore taking runs at and injuring Markus Naslund. Brashear won that fight. A few cheers for Orr to win though. Whole crowd cheered for the fight. No one boo'd Brashear, which is good. Even after Redden had a 3 point game there were idiots booing him, and saying how him getting tripped in the 3rd was the only thing he's done good that game. Fucking idiots.
Looks like they did something with the lights at the Garden, looking at the ice was like looking through a glass of Tang. Was fun taunting the Leafs fans. My section SUCKED, no one made any noise. FAIL to 315.

I'll admit, Moore was being a bitch earlier in that game & throughout the season by running guys. But that was all Bertuzzi doing the damage. If Moore wouldn't fight, which he wouldn't, Todd could have just attempted to fight someone else on the Avs. Yes you want to beat the shit out of the guy who is trying to injure your guys, but if that fails, you try to destroy someone else on their squad

Wow lot of stupid in this post. 1st the damage was done by Bertuzzi riding Moores head into the ice. 2nd it was a clean hit, you may not have liked it but it was a clean hit. 3rd He had it coming? Well he got it when he fought Matt Cooke earlier in that game. Usually that would be it, but maybe the Canucks/Crawford weren't satisfied since Moore had the upper hand in that fight. I guess that's why when they were down 8-2 in the 3rd they decided to goon it up and have both Pronger and Bertuzzi go after him.

Pretty good pregame talk about Torts about how Redden has been doing much better. He's tried to clean the slate, I believe he has. Coming into this camp he's been really good in the neutral zone & not playing in his endzone so much, as far as breaking up plays above our blueline so then you don't have a lot of difficult situations as far as spending time in your endzone. There are gonna be bumps for all of us here, we're on a little ride right now; we just gotta stay within ourselves. Reds' gotta do the same thing, he's been solid. God, I even heard a cheer! I heard the people cheer for him the other night & he's gonna be okay. We just gotta stay with him & live with some of the bumps along the way and keep on pushing.

Not to start rehashing this again, but Bertuzzi's "one mistake" cost Steve Moore his liveliehood. And I wouldnt exactly say that Bertuzzi paid for what he did considering he recieved a bullshit suspension and is still in the league making millions. He shouldve been banned from the game for as long as Moore cant play, which would be, obviously, for life.

remember when tie domi was on the leafs and took off his glove and knocked out ulf samuellson, ulf fell and hit the back of his head on the ice, puddle of blood.
I would like the Kings to be good again..but fuck are these uniforms ugly. Yes, I get it, purple is the color of royalty, but c'mon. Bring back the old Gretzky-Kurri-Robatille black & silver unis
go back the lakers colors of purple and gold...:puke:
Smyth is good. That goal really shifted the momentum though...the Kings have been carrying the play since. I wonder when the last time the Rangers & Kings played where they were both at the top of their respective divisions
id guess 1994 and if so thats probably the only other time ever
What a fuckin goal by Gaborik. I love this team.

I obviously never cease cheering for this team and probably never will. But this start is definitely a surprise... to me at least.
One player who has turned me around is Prospal. We'll see if he can remain consistent. I never liked Kotalik or Brashear and still don't. I am pleased with Kotalik's effort thus far, though.

Last season on Saturday November 1, the Rangers went in to Toronto at 10-2-1 and looking invincible, similar to the way they do now. They went on to blow that game in the 3rd period which led to 4 losses in 5 games, and the Rangers never looked invincible again the rest of the season.

A little clip from Scott Burnside's column on ESPN.com today:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/columns/story?columnist=burnside_scott&id=4577207
1. Rangers off to strong start
Most people will point to Marian Gaborik or the kids on the blue line as the catalysts for the New York Rangers' superlative 7-1-0 start to the season. We point to a visit veteran winger Vaclav Prospal had with coach John Tortorella this past summer.
Prospal, who played for Tortorella in Tampa before chasing the money to Anaheim the season the Lightning won the Stanley Cup in 2003-04, was out of work when he dropped by a backyard cookout at the Tortorella spread. The coach thought there would be a fit for Prospal with his Rangers, but they didn't have a lot of money to throw around. He asked Prospal if he was ready to play for something other than money.
"I've known him for a long time. We've battled. We've had our ups and downs," Tortorella told ESPN.com last week.
Both are stubborn, he said. Both are emotional. "It's a weird relationship," Tortorella said.
Weird or not, Prospal has fit like a foot in a skate with Gaborik and the Rangers. The skilled winger has 11 points and is a plus-7, and he, Gaborik and Brandon Dubinsky have formed one of the league's most productive forward units so far this season.
"It just seems to work with him and me," Tortorella said. "He has been a huge part to our start."

I'm all for Tortorella's plan to give Lundqvist more rest this season. However you have to pick your spots better.
First off it's early in the season. Lundqvist isn't worn out yet. he doesn't need extra rest. Especially with no back to backs, and 2 days off before the next game. And you can't play Valliquette against an elite team like San Jose and expect not to get burned. Ok it worked against Anaheim. I was not happy that he played Valliquette against Anaheim instead of the next night against Toronto, and Valliquette shut out the Ducks. You only get lucky once.
With Lundqivst in nets from the start, who knows what this game might have been. They may have still lost, but at least they would have had a shot.

Given the way Toronto was knocking into Hank last week, it was all but assured they would do it again on Sat night. They did. Valley should have played Sat night, then have Hank for the Sharks last night.
LilJimmyRbinson

The only saving grace was that it's a non conference opponent so it doesn't really hurt the teams standings. But year, no reason for Valliquette to be in there at home instead of at Toronto. I know Hank needs to rest because of the schedule and the Olympics but he should pick his spots better than that.
Hey, 7 in a row is still 7 in a row, and the Rangers have already scored more goals in their first 9 games than they did in all of October 2008.

This isn't the NFL. This Non-Conference Opponent doesn't hold. I know you're not going to be battling for a playoff spot with the Sharks, but guess what. You're not going to be battling for a playoff spot against Toronto either. The only thing Toronto is going to be battling for is with the Islanders for worst record in the East.
These Non Conference Games still mean something. You have to give yourself the best chance at 2 points. And Valliquette against the Sharks is almost throwing away a shot at 2 points., regarless of what he did against Anaheim.

the guy has played well enough over the last 3 years to be backup to an elite goaltender. However backups should always go against the bottom teams, no matter who the back up is. The Rangers are not disclosing what type of injury it is, just what it isn’t. It isn’t a hip, groin or - in Gaborik’s words - a torso problem. He was shaking his right leg as he skated off the ice so we’ll go out and call this one a lower-body injury. No word on his availability for tomorrow night’s game against the Islanders but coach John Tortorella said he was not too concerned. However, asked for more specifics, Tortorella retreated to his “I didn’t speak to the trainer yet” position.
As for Lundqvist, he was involved in a one-car collision while driving to practice as his luxury car slid off the slick Saw Mill in today’s rain and hit a guardrail. The goalie was said to be OK but was obviously late getting to practice. No reason he shouldn’t be available tomorrow.
Without Gaborik, lines looked like this:
Enver Lisin-Vinny Prospal-Aaron Voros
Sean Avery-Chris Drury-Ales Kotalik
Christopher Higgins-Brandon Dubinsky-Ryan Callahan
Donald Brashear-Artem Anisimov-Brian Boyle

Here's to a good game tonight! :drunk:
According to Botta, looks like Gaborik is out. The shocking thing about the Isles is their record...1-4-5. 6 out of their 10 games have gone to overtime. If the Isles manage to get a lead going into the third...expect them to self-destruct between the 10min-5min mark of the third. They've coughed up 1, 2, or 3 goal leads in at least 7 of those 10 games.
I'd at least like to see some fisticuffs...but even then, the Isles don't have anyone, outside of maybe Jackman or Witt, that can throw a punch...a bunch of goddamn softies.

He better be hurt because he should be out there against the Isles just to have a fight. He's better at that than Voros.
Sucks about Gaborik. Hope this isn't the start of something.
As for Hank, I heard the guardrail crashed into him while his defense was driving around aimlessly.

not a doubt in my mind that Donald Brashear will end up a recurring healthy scratch on this team - I just thought it would happen in December and not October. total waste of money and a guy who barely belongs in the NHL.
still, I'd rather have him out there than Aaron Voros.

Newsday is reporting Doug Weight had H1N1 and was isolated from the team to prevent spreading it. He'll be in the lineup tonight because team doctors feel he's no longer contagious. Judging by the way they've treated Rick DiPietro's health issues in the past, don't be surprised if both NY teams are infected with H1N1 in a week or two.
A little germ warfare to stifle a Ranger's successful season!

Sucks Gaborik is out given how exciting he is to watch. It also looked like it was just the right leg, probably be fine. That being said Luongo is the latest star player to be injured out indefinitely. So it could be worse and the Rangers are deep at forward.

I agree with this. It goes back to last season in the playoffs when Torts benched Avery, effectively ending any chance they had of winning the series. Ever since then Avery has been a shadow of his former self. I think that Avery knows that he has a 'short leash' (Torts' words) and its gotten into his head.

Here's why I don't get the Avery-hate (from the league/fans of other teams).
Yeah...he's a scumbag, but not for nothing, I can't remember him ever taking a cheap shot on somebody. He never goes after anybody's head...never tries to injure somebody, and will drop the gloves and fight when he has to. Yet Todd Bertuzzi gets welcomed back with open arms. It's disgusting.

actually you don't get it. I have never said i hated avery. I don't. I am actually a pretty big fan of his. However I'm not going to agree with you and a lot of people here that say he is the most impactful player on this team and the reason they made the playoffs the last few years. That is ludicrous. He is a 2nd-3rd line player, he is one of the fastest skaters in the league which no one ever mentions. He has huge scoring ability which is overshadowed by his bullshit antics. You guys want to blame tortorella for sitting him in the playoffs when he almost cost them a game when a month prior people wanted renney fired for not making his players accountable.
and change your avatar too, hard to take someone seriously when bob kelly is staring at you

Here’s the rundown on the Rangers’ lineup (all injuries in parenthesis are presumed by this reporter, not reported by the Rangers):
Marian Gaborik (right knee) is out.
Christopher Higgins (left ankle) is out.
Sean Avery (right knee) is out.
Dane Byers is on a flight to Minnesota from Hartford (direct, arriving about 4:30) and will be in the lineup.
Donald Brashear (right hand/wrist) is in the lineup.
P.A. Parenteau will play his second game for the Rangers.
Henrik Lundqvist will start in goal.
Gaborik participated in the Rangers’ optional morning skate, his first time on the ice since he got hurt in front of the Coyotes’ net in the third period of Monday’s 5-2 win. Even so, Gaborik didn’t sound so sure afterwards when he would skate next or, more importantly, play next.
“It is disappointing but I can’t do anything about it,” Gaborik said of not being able to play in his return to Minnesota, where he spent his first eight NHL seasons with the Wild. “I’m trying to push myself to have a good feel but it’s not there. I don’t think I would b e a piece to the puzzle (tonight).
“I think I’m on the right track,” Gaborik said, before being asked whether he’d skate tomorrow - the Rangers play the Bruins Sunday afternoon at Madison Square Garden. “I don’t know. I need to do a lot of treatment.”

Upcoming games at Garden to feature shout-outs from wrestling legend
Rangers fans, be sure to keep an eye on Gardenvision over the next several games to see a special Rangers shout-out from professional wrestling legend Hulk Hogan.
The World’s Most Famous Wrestler stopped by the World’s Most Famous Arena on Oct. 27 to talk about his new book, My Life Outside the Ring.
Prior to his press conference, the Hulkster donned a Blueshirt and used his trademark voice for some memorable shout-outs that Rangers fans will be able to catch on Gardenvision at an upcoming game.
This was hardly Hogan's first encounter with the Rangers, as the photo at right shows. In January 1985, at the height of the Wrestlemania craze that swept through the U.S., Hogan took time out from his schedule at The Garden to pose with former Blueshirts enforcer Nick Fotiu.
Nearly 25 years have passed since this photo was taken, but Fotiu and Hogan are both still going strong.
