I was not happy with the idea of the Phils trying to grab more cash
by auctioning off all the pieces of the Vet, but it appears that all the
net proceeds will go to the Phillies Charities. Glad to hear that.
Bad enough that taxpayer dollars went into the new stadium,
but I was really pissed off at them trying to cash in on trashing
the Vet until I heard they weren't keeping the cash.

This changes things a little bit. However, I'm still not convinced that ALL of the proceeds from whoring out the Vet went to charity. This really was never mentioned before, which makes it suspect.

Yeah, people are normally so secretive when they are donating money to charity. That's normally the first thing out of their mouths. "All proceeds go to charity!!!!" This was more like "SSHHHH! Um, hey - this, uh, auction thing, is, uh, for charity. Yeah. Charity. That's it." Kind of like that little sneaky guy on Sesame Street who kept trying to seel Ernie letters and junk. "PSSSSSTT!!! Hey bud. Wanna buy a G?"

I'm pissed about the whole situation and the climate that led to the demise of the Vet. I'm pissed because the city (read: the taxpayers) own the Vet. Besides the bad-taste factor, selling the seats, the auctions, and everything else they've done to whore it out over the last 9 months has been eating at me because the question on my mind was where the proceeds were going from the sale of city (read: taxpayer) owned property? Now all of the sudden I'm hearing the word "charity" thrown around. It just seems a bit late and thus suspicious. You figure they'd have made a big deal from the beginning if the proceeds from all of these sales really were going to charity.

yeah i hear ya sinn, buuuut if we (the taxpayers) "own" the vet then shouldn't we pay for the destuction of it? i see no problem with the selling off of all the shit since the phils are paying for the blowing up.
plus you cannot lie about giving the proceeds to charity and you don't, especially a big business like the phils.
i think you are looking way to far into this sinn. its sad whats going on, but what do you expect them to do with all the lockers, seats...etc.
plus i woujld love to have a 700 level sign for my house.:drunk:
**EDIT**
i just heard that all the just the proceeds from this auction is going to charity, all the other shit BEFORE THIS AUCTION went to the blowing up of the vet.

The Vet is being demolished to make room for parking for the new stadiums, so any cost associated with that is part of the bill for the construction of the new stadiums, as far as I am concerned. Let Lincoln Financial Services and Citizens Bank pay for it.
Also, from what I can tell ONLY the proceeds from yesterday's auction are going to charity. All of the proceeds from the previous whoring sessions are something else entirely...

I think that the city could classify as a charity...
