Going by that actual logic, yes. But the vast of majority of people seem to think the Yankees are going to just walk away with it.
Though that wouldn't be the cause of freaking out. That's just the nature of being a Philly sports fan due to what used to occur every year from 1984 up to last year.

PHILADELPHIA—The last time the Philadelphia Phillies brought a World Series title back to the City of Brotherly Love, the nation's financial sector was in complete ruin, the cost of a gallon of milk was only $2.74, fans watched the Fall Classic while huddled around their slightly-less-streamlined high-definition television sets, and Philadelphia slugger Ryan Howard was just 28 years old.
This week Howard, 29, hopes to lead the Phillies to their first World Series championship in more than 360 long days and end a title drought that has been punctuated by several embarrassing losses, including a 2009 opening-day defeat by the Atlanta Braves and a June loss to the Atlanta Braves. During its infamous dry spell, the team has also come up short twice, winning both an NLDS and an NLCS title but having absolutely no World Series ring to show for it.
To put into perspective just how long the Phillies have gone without a championship, the earth has almost made one full orbit of the sun since the franchise last paraded through downtown Philadelphia holding the famed Commissioner's Trophy.
"We have a good group of guys this year, and if we block out all the stuff about how we haven't won a World Series in more than 5,000 waking hours, we'll be fine." Howard said. "Frankly, I'm tired of all that talk. Yes, I know Michael Jackson was still alive the last time we won, and I know Boston Legal was gearing up for its final episode. But look, when the umpire says 'Play ball,' none of that matters."
"After 364 days of constantly coming up short, I think this is finally our year," Howard added.
According to Phillies manager Charlie Manuel, if his players get wrapped up in the fact that they haven't raised a World Series banner since April 5, 2009, they'll never be able to play to the maximum of their ability against the New York Yankees. The veteran manager admitted, however, that going nearly 52 straight weeks without a championship is bound to shake any team's confidence.
"The bottom line is we're a pretty inexperienced team, and for many of these young players, this will be the first time they've been to the World Series in a year." Manuel said. "A lot has changed in that time. If you would have told me last October that this country would elect a black president before the Philadelphia Phillies made it back to the World Series, I would have laughed in your face."
While Philadelphia players admitted the 11-month championship-winless streak has been difficult for them personally, most agreed that it's the fans who've suffered most, enduring more than 500,000 minutes without a World Series victory.
"Our fans are incredible," said left fielder Raul Ibanez, who was brought to the Phillies during the offseason in the hopes that he could help Philadelphia finally get back on the winning track. "If I were them, I would have given up on us weeks ago, after we lost our 69th game and failed to win the National League East by more than 10 [games]. But they stuck with us."
Though the Philly faithful are understandably disappointed with their team's title drought, many believe this will be the season when the team breaks the so-called Curse of 1981—the year in which the Phillies failed to follow up their 1980 championship season with a World Series victory.
"I guess part of me feels like the long wait will make a title all the more special," season-ticket holder Mike Oliver said. "And even though I don't like to compare teams, this Philly squad feels similar to the one who beat the Rays back in the day. They had guys like Jimmy Rollins, Chase Utley, Cole Hamels, Jamie Moyer—guys who could really play the game and knew how to win; not like today's players."
"Man, whatever happened to Jamie Moyer?" Oliver added. "He's got to be dead by now."
"Truthfully, I never thought I would live to see the Phillies get to another World Series," longtime fan David Oswald said. "When I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last November, the doctor

Probably, but his reasoning for it kinda made sense. He said in the post game conference that Utley doesnt ground into many DP's and he didn't want Rollins to get thrown out stealing third if he K'd, giving Posada a straight shot to throw him out. He also said he wanted Ryan Howard up with runners on.

I think Fox isnt doing a good enough job on getting the crowd noise on TV. If you listen, when a guy comes up to the plate, you barely hear the song they are walking up to. When youre in that stadium, you cant talk over that music. Even when the games are on YES you hear every song loud and clear.
I was at Game 1 and it got loud. It was miserable, cold and the Yanks couldnt do shit and people still cheered everything. I refuse to believe that a game where they were in it and with Pedro on the mound, the crowd was dead.
Plus McCarver going out of his way every inning to point out how dead the crowd is makes me even more suspicious. Of what, I dont know but its really odd.

If the Yankees havent figured it out yet, they have their hands full with the defending World Series Champions.
The most horrible thing so far was the Yankees fans filing out in droves in the 8th inning game 1. Wow, all that money for those tickets, your team 36-8 at home, and your just bailing? Fucking fair-weather fanned losers.

New York Post may be the worst publication in America. Spanked? 3-1 ? Wow man yeah!
Yes, the Post is the worst paper ever. I dont think anyone will argue with you there. The "Spanked" headline probably had something to do with "Who's Your Daddy?" Like, you got spanked by your daddy. Either way, it sucks, like all the Post headlines. Did you see the "Here Come the Frillies" one? With an awful photoshop of Victorino in a ballet tu-tu?

I left with 2 outs in the bottom of the 8th. My ticket costed me 90 dollars. I was fucking freezing, the Yanks couldnt do shit, it was 4-0 and there was an express train in 10 mins that I could catch.
Im not fair weathered, I just had to get up for work at 5 am the next morning. you wanna blame someone, blame baseball for starting these fucking games at such an unreasonable hour the last week of October.
I blame the cunts in the lower levels who all went inside when the mist started

Your theroy about the crowd noise does sound logical. Before the playoffs started, I was worried that the new stadium wouldn't be loud enough. But I do believe you when you say that the times you have been to playoff games, that the crowd was loud.
That being said, I know what the Yankees are in store for in Philly. That motherfucking place gets loud.
As for last night, AJ Brunett really stepped up to the plate last night and earned his money.

I wasn't at any of the playoff or world series games, but does anyone think the lack of sound in the stadium could have to do with the design? I mean, accross the street everything was closed and everyone was basically on top of each other. Now, they play in an open air stadium with a lot of room. Everything is all spread out. I went to 2 games at the new stadium so far. The 1st game was the game they lost 22-4, which obviously it was quiet cause there was nothing to cheer about. The 2nd game was the last game of the regular season. It was really loud then. I really think the open air and the fact that everything's spread out and we're not all on top of each other and packed in like sardenes anymore makes it sound quiet on TV.

Oh wait, it's people that get baseball and Mothershucker's choking team isn't involved :action-sm
Burnett pitched a hell of a game, not blaming Pedro. Looking back at this and last year, if the Phils score 2 or less, they lose.
That being said, the dropped game 2 last year too :icon_mrgr
Glad you Yanks fans disavow the Post

I've always been a New York Daily News guy. Even with that faggot Lupica, its the paper that I always read as a kid and still to this day. I used to buy the Post when I couldn't find the Daily News up here (there was even a stretch where I bought the Post since the national Daily News was sucking cock), but I haven't bought it since their Erin Andrews cover and never will buy it again. Its just such a scummy paper and as bad as Lupica is he's still better than that cunt Mushnick.
Anyway, should be an interesting game tonight. Hopefully the Yankees can rack up on pretty boy. Unfortunately though I'm having flashbacks to his breakout dominating performance against them in spring training all of those years ago.

The post season especially the WS is always that way because the rank and file don't get to attend in the same proportion. It's one of the disgraces of professional sport IMHO.

I agree but I have to say last years world series crowd was awesome....I think what happened this year was people saw it as a get rich scheme to sell there tickets. A guy at work made $2000 selling two of his tickets. I also think a lot of Yankees fans thought it would be cheaper to go to CBP to see the game so they bought up a lot of the tickets.
