why are the eagles so hated?

i was on a NFL message board reading various threads when i read a poll asking who was the most hated team. the eagles were tied for the most hated. wha?

i understand why jints, dallas and 'skins fans would hate them...they're rivals...but chiefs, raiders and steeler fans (just to name a few)?!?! i don't get it.

they say the fans suck, whatever...how 'bout the raiders fans? or the ever annoying cowboys fans?


i always assumed that it was because the eagles have been consistently on of the best teams in football for the last 3 or 4 yrs. am i wrong?

The Philly fans won me over that day Irvin got hurt and they cheered. So great. But I figure to the regular fan who has morals they find that kind of stuff offensive. Also, I think the movie "Philadelphia" had something to do with it. I mean, the theme of the movie was that AIDS originated in Philly so you have to understand.

There is some jealousy because of the teams recent success but mostly it's because of the fans. The media has portrayed our fans out to be so much worse than we are and people have bought into it.

I think people are tough on Philly cause we never won a
superbowl. It's not a big secret that Philly owers never
seem to want to pony up the big bucks to field teams
capable of winng it all, in any sport. Yeah, we get some high
profile guys, but never seem to have the complete team

i hate the eagles because my dad is an eagles fan and i liked to piss him off by routing for the cowboys and it went from there...ironicly i like the flyers and so does my dad but Ron Hexstall was my hero...i remember when he two handed chelios across the knee way back in 87 and dove into a corner pileup to punch chelios in the head with his blocker

actually, it's kinda wierd.... i have a LOT of good friends in philly... the city itself is kinda decent... but for some reason, always felt some sort of rivalry between philly and sports teams.... maybe it has something to do with the old flyers/islanders rivalry.... THAT was one hell of a rivalry once upon a time...

i'm a rabid jet fan, so i have no reason to hate the eagles(no rivalry at all there). i LIKED the phillies at one time when they pretty much took everyone over from the mets.

NY is the capital of the world.... litterally.... what happens here will effect the rest of the country(and to a degree, the world).... THE ENTIRE COUNTRY..... NY economy sucks, the country goes in to recession.... NY economy does good, the rest of the country does good. WE CONTROL YOUR DESTINY!

NY was the first US capitol in 1788. people in the south got angry because it was too far away... they wanted richmond to be the capitol.... they compromised and moved it to a central location.... philly

they eventually made DC it's own territory.... unbiased to any state and moved the capitol down there

I think that it is mostly an overflow of the Nationwide hatred towards the Philly fan, when in reality... Fans are idiots EVERYWHERE, not just philly.

In Chicago they had 3 different instances in the last 2 years of fans being tools. One guy tried to beat up an umpire, 2 others beat the snot out of the Royals 1st base coach, and finally they nearly incited a riot when they were f'ing with the dodgers and they went into the stands after the fans...

How 'bout Cleveland, they pelted the field with trash and other stuff after the referees overturned a call, and got it Right. New Orleans fans did the same thing less than 1 week later.

And in your beloved New York, there was that little incident of the thrown snowball that knocked out an assistant coach.

Yet, whenever you see a news story about tough/bad fans they always mention Philly as a bad place to go as a visiting fans, you read that philly fans "don't deserve to win" because we are basically a-holes. Other than booing McNabb on draft day (which was wrong), And cheering Irvin's injury, what have philly fans done recently (last 10 yrs) that are as bad as my examples???

on the bright side... now we can say that all of these other towns are rippin' us off... hoo-hoo...

we blew it in the AFC champs vs the denver broncos in John Elway's last year last year in 98.....
