My turtles came out of hibernation today. That's a sure sign spring is on the way. Screw the groundhog. ROFL!
I'm just happy because they're all alive.

Do they hibernate in your house somewhere? In your backyard? I'm confused, but then again, I am an ass.
PS, I hate that f'n groundhog! Li'l Phil--yechh. I hope one year everyone's standing around the hole with their newscameras and the li'l fella doesn't come out and so someone reaches in and "gets a good one" and pulls out its stinking, fat carcass. Stupid groundhogs...

They're eastern box turtles and they live outdoors in an enclosure we built in my girlfriend's back yard. I dug down two-feet and put down plastic-coated chickenwire then backfilled it. This is so they can't dig out and escape, not that they ever try. They've got everything they could ever want. There is a "pond" that they can drink from or soak in, and they got hiding places, grass, etc. The walls are made of the kind of "landscape bricks" that you make retaining walls out of. Over the top is a wood frame with chickenwire over it to keep raccoons and other vermin from attempting to snack on the little fellas.
In the spring when they wake up, we bring them in the house so they can fully wake up. They come out of the ground but they are in kind of a stupor until they get to come inside, soak in some warm water to help them crap out anything they've been holding over the winter. Usually the second day they're looking for food, although it's offered the first day they usually ignore it. Within a few days they are pretty much back to normal. They will stay inside for a few months because the temperatures are too erratic. We may get a week of 60's and 70's then it may dip down below freezing the next week.
spring can't come soon enough... it's gonna snow here tomorrow... :mad5: :cussing
