**See This Page With Full Graphics, Pictures and Color!** CLICK HERE --> : What I learned at my visit to Sirius today
Short background - I go to Hofstra University, majoring in Radio, one of my classes went on a trip to Sirius today.
1. It is illegal to block a channel in any market. If they offer it to one market, they must offer it to every market. This makes the whole no compete clause question very interesting. If they were to go to satellite radio on June 1st, they would HAVE to be on the air June 1st in New York.
It all boils down to the FCC not allowing localized programming on satellite radio, which is why when you hear weather and traffic on Satellite radio, you hear Seattle, Boston, etc. no matter where you are. So, again, if O&A go to Satellite, Sirius or XM cannot block out their show from NYC.
2. Jeremy Coleman looks nothing like I thought he would. The man doesnt look a day over 30. Very tussleable.
3. Most of Sirius' talk radio channels are not available to listen to online once you are a subscriber. Unlike the music stations, only a few talk station are available online because of certain laws.
4. Satellite radio, especially Sirius, fucking rocks.
The first point was the only main point I wanted to make. I makes me wonder what Norton was talking about in the Post.

You try making sense when you are knuckle deep in a young lad's balloon knot while making comments to a newspaper.
I must confess, it was just me in a young lad costume.

 great info there FBA, while it dosn't answer the question of the no compete clause, but it dose give the boys an arugement to make the no compete clause invalid. since infinity won't be making the boys and offer, i can't see it being legal to keep them out of work.

Now that i think about it that whole interview was a little too close to april fools day. Could have been a joke on all the NY area fans. Plus Mark could have pulled something at fox because i believe they were the only one's who reported it on tv. just a thought

FBA,
What did you think of the studios and rest of the facilities? UnFing believable right! Jeremy is the Dick Clark of radio. After seeing the old NEW studios, you have to imagine the boys would be in heaven going to 1221 Ave of the Americas in all new digs each day. It is very impressive, after seeing the place, you realize that Sirius has the money and wants to spend it.

I called Sirius last week, and asked if they had the power to block a signal to a certain area while broadcasting to the rest of the country, and was told NO, anyone who has a reciever can get the signal.......maybe this is what Norton means by "everywhere" when they return.

Maybe Norton meant that they'd have to wait until October if they went to regular radio. Maybe satellite radio isn't considered "competition" for FM for the purposes of their contract since it is a pay service doesn't have as many listeners (sort of the same way a player drafted by a major league baseball team can hold out and play for an independent minor league team, but can't sign a minor league deal with a Major League team's affilliate).

The whole place is AMAZING. The studios are beautiful, the offices are state of the art, everything is great there. I asked about internships and they dont have a formal yet but they are getting one together. Before the visit I was very pro-satellite, but after visiting Sirius, that's where I want to be.
Even though they are losing millions right now, they seem more willing than XM to lure people to their product. I think that's evident by the fact that they have exclusive contracts with 3 out of the 4 major sports. They just seem like they will eventually be the top satellite company.
While I will buy XM if O&A end up there, I will be disappointed because I really want Sirius now.

I'm willing to bet that the no compete clause will not apply to satellite radio because it is a premium service as opposed to an open commercial broadcast. Technically they are different forms of media and individual stations do not DIRECTLY compete with each other.

I hope you're right, but if that was the case, they would've been able to do the man show since that's part of a "premium" service.
remember... they are still under contract right now...

vaicom owns comedy central and infinity....
they were also under contract at the time... clause or not, while under contract, viacom has the last word on whether they work somewhere else or not.
