Here's a snippet:
"The FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION, which confirmed the big fine THURSDAY, upped the ante, saying it now has trained its sights on the show's syndicator, VIACOM INC.'s INFINITY BROADCASTING CORP. INFINITY could be hit with up to $1.49 million in fines if the FCC finds it aired the same material on its 18 stations that carry the show.

"The FCC is sending a letter of inquiry to INFINITY to find out if it aired the same material as CLEAR CHANNEL in its STERN markets. It is getting more difficult to pinpoint where the exact material is played because local radio station officials often will bleep out things they find offensive and don't always keep records of what material was deleted."

The WSJ article goes on to say: "INFINITY previously has backed MR. STERN strongly. MEL KARMAZIN, VIACOM's president, recently sent a letter to a U.S. senator apologizing for a racial slur made by a caller to the show, but defended MR. STERN and denied his broadcasts were indecent. INFINITY hasn't paid a fine since a $1.7 million settlement with the FCC in 1995 involving several HOWARD STERN fines. So far, the FCC hasn't enlisted the JUSTICE DEPARTMENT to take the company to court to collect. In addition, INFINITY has refused to pay a $357,000 fine levied by the FCC against it for the "OPIE & ANTHONY" show that featured a description of a couple having sex in ST. PATRICK'S CATHEDRAL in NEW YORK CITY.

"CLEAR CHANNEL's moves put INFINITY in an awkward position. The more steps CLEAR CHANNEL takes to make sure it broadcasts no indecent content, the more pressure it puts on INFINITY to take similar steps," concluded the WSJ article.

And, it looks as if this new strategy of fining for each "utterance" is here to stay. In what definitely offers some insight into the FCC's new attack plan on indecency, here is what Commissioners MICHAEL COPPS and JONATHAN ADELSTEIN had to say following yesterday's ruling:

Said COPPS, "I have long advocated that the Commission use all of the tools it has to tackle indecency on the public's airwaves. Today's decision is a step forward towards imposing meaningful fines. For the first time, the Commission assesses a fine against more than a single utterance, rather than counting an entire program as one utterance. In addition, the Commission makes clear that its indecency enforcement will address not only the station that is the subject of a complaint, but also any other station that aired the same programming. I therefore vote to approve this decision."

ADELSTEIN noted, "I support this Notice Of Apparent Liability for the broadcast of indecent material at a time when children may be in the audience. By issuing this NAL, we step up to our responsibility to enforce statutory and regulatory provisions restricting broadcast indecency. For the first time, we impose fines based upon separate utterances. While this is not the most egregious case that I have seen, the material broadcast is indecent under our standards and the fines appropriately account for the violation of our rules. Since I arrived at the Commission, we have greatly stepped up our enforcement against indecent broadcasts. I expect that stepped-up actions like those we take today will convince broadcasters that they cannot ignore their responsibility to serve the public interest and to avoid the broadcast of indecent material over the public airwaves."

I'm glad Foundry gave the credit to Wackbag, because you guys give me the best feedback... and I am glad to be a part of what makes Wackbag so great. I plan to put the other 2 clips on the "file spreader" tonight as soon as the kids go to bed and get off my downstairs computer I have the files on.

With the kids being off of school for the past couple weeks, it has been a challenge to keep at least one of the computers streaming O&A with the P2P software... now it's going to be twice as hard to keep the downstairs computer connected to the "Virus Spreader" as well. So, I am hoping to have the kids in bed and off the computer by 11pm tonight.

So look for the other clips during the late evening hours. However, I will probably have to shut down the "Virus Spreader" by 8 a.m. before I go to work, so the kids don't mess things up when they get up. Hopefully by that time all the clips will be found in other members' folders as well.

I am also working on transfering more clips of Norton from between some of the presentations of awards. I may have to do that on the weekend, but at least you will have the entire 8 minute opening (3 part segment) tonight!

I explained this to Mascan, in chat on the file spreader software, but let me post it here as well. I have NO idea where this page came from and just learned of it myself this evening when someone emailed me about it.

I wasn't able to view the page, and the image they posted on Foundry looks like just another fan site. When I first looked at it, I thought, here we go again... assholes making fun of the Onatrix idea. Why the hell is Foundry treating this the same way they treated the "Brave Street" video? Why are they acting like this page may mean something?

take it as a homage BP. i did tell you some time back to put a stake in that name before i registered it. seems someone is trying to beat both of us.

and at this point, with 47 days to go, it might be a good idea to keep an eye on sites that pop up. although i seriously doubt that they will have any real news to offer one never knows what will come of it. of course i am just gussing here but i feel that O&A will chose a forum that the fans know (ie, O&A.com, wackbag.com, OA.net) to pass out news in any form (cryptic or straight out) instead of starting a new site. we, as fans, will find it hard to belive what other sites have to say when the site just spring up out of nowhere.

seems to me they are just fan sites, folks hoping and trying to keep the virus alive. and like some of us do, we find a way to spread the virus. this guy chose geocities. i say lets see what he has in mind. some decent sites started off on geocites. but depending on what he is doing depends on if geocities will work for him or not. but since the site is down most of the time geocities wont work for him. anyway, i wanna see what happens to the site.

When I got home from work, I read your email and checked out the update on foundry. They said they were able to connect this morning and pull that (mp3) file from the site... so I kept trying all night to connect... and I was able to do it ONCE!

I immediately "viewed source" and pulled the raw (html) file from the site. I then saved each image that was stored on the page. When I clicked on that main "ONATRIX1.mp3" file link they had... my screen went white again with that damn geocities overflow page. I was never able to get it back again. However... by pulling everything off the site individually, I was able to create a "mirror site" on my web area...

Why is the name "John Milton" listed on that audio file? Has O&A ever made reference to that name before? A net search only comes up with a 17 century author with some pretty wierd quotes (http://www.bartleby.com/100/173.html). It's probably just the name of the guy who created the audio file... but it could be O&A are going very old school with their references... who knows?

After listening to that "ONATRIX: RETARDED (http://www.buffnet.net/~paulk/newONATRIX/ONATRIX1.mp3)" audio file, this is just not just a casual fan putting something together. Too many quick clips, and a flow of audio that was done on a professional sound board. The news clips combined with so many other sound bites from various place seems to be focusing the listening audience towards something.

Who ever put that clip out is welcome to the "onatrix.com" website. If they can put audio out like that... then they should use the domain instead of that damn geocities site.

Ed... I am taking it as a homage to my idea... and am glad they are breathing life into this matrix theme. I always thought that it would be a cool way to bring the listeners back... and someone else must have thought it as well. I can't wait for the next audio clip to arrive!

I think you may be right. I was looking at Anthonys webpage and some of the pictures that came from Anthonys cell phone that they took on there trip to Washington (Home of XM) and on the picture page was this quote.

Well... that wasn't me. I just changed my AIM password if somehow someone else was using it.


My logon name is: pallker (all lower case if that matters)

The kids fire up my AIM software all the time, but they have their own logon names, and I don't even give them the option to accidently log in with my logon name, because I don't use the "save my password" option on this software. I don't understand why my logon name would even appear during the day. Could my logon name be coming up when my kid is using this software? He leaves it on for hours and hours... but I get no IM messages at all under my name.

Hopefully this change in password will fix this problem. Thanks Bagel, for making me aware of this problem!

By the way, Papagolash, I was updating the Onatrix page and noticed the original images from your site was still having trouble. Just the fact that it was posted on Opieandanthony.com makes it credible. The "right!" could very well be a clue, w/ XM being on the right. I also found it interesting the neither WNEW nor Infinity broadcasting were mentioned in the audio clip.

I had no idea there was a clip 2 until you mentioned it, and I went looking for it on Foundry. I tried going to the geocities site and got the "white page" again. It's a good thing that Foundry is finding a way to pull these clips from the site, now I was able to update my "mirror site" with foundry's clip #2...

Was that clip only 1 minute and 50 sec. long? I right clicked on the link and "saved target as..." and pulled the (mp3) file onto my computer. I went to Foundry to look for the zipped version to make sure that was the entire clip and not just a partial download... but they didn't have the 3rd clip up there, yet.

I decided to try and download it to my upstairs computer where I have been broadcasting the previous two clips on a P2P channel, but I could NOT pull the clip in on that computer, probably because the geocities site was getting hard hard again this morning.

I just want to know if this first clip I got is a full download or was there MORE to this clip. At a minute 50 seconds, this by far is the shortest of the three... but it really implies some profound change that is about to happen.

Somone is really embracing my original idea... and I seem to be the only one freaking out about these clips, and I am trying to analyze each sound byte... because I KNOW it is not me, and am wondering who the hell would embrace this concept and put so much effort into it.

I chatted with Sexbagel last night, finally, and found he had plugged in my AIM name improperly. I told him honestly, I had no ideas where these clips are coming from, and I questioned him about Foundry's ability to get the previous 2 clips. He said they pulled the first 2 clips off at 3:30 in the morning when the geocities site wasn't active.

I told Bagel last night... I have lost so much interest in this Onatrix page over the months, that I hadn't updated it since Papagolash went to that Norton show in NYC and took some excellant pictures. I got sick of all the jabs and all the bullshit flack I got from it to even bother anymore. Now this geocities page shows up, and is breathing life into the whole concept. Now I have to actual do some work to straighten up that old site.

People will believe what they want... but I know this stuff is not mine. At least it is sparking me back into action again to punch up the old Onatrix page and get off my ass and do some more work on it.

Then that clip I downloaded early this morning from your geocities hyperlink was a FULL clip.

Now you say you saw the actual geocities page last night and they added a 4th category?

I was able to connect to this geocities site at about 12:30 last night and there were still only two clips and the 3rd was not hyplinked. There was NO 4th category. I freaked when I actually was able to view the page for a second time and found another element I wasn't able to pull off the page last time. The background image was beyond my reach the first time because I lost access to the page before pulling that image. I found a still version of that matrix style background and use that in it's place. However THIS time I was able to pull the actual background image file they use on this geocities page... and it has MOTION.

So, Radio guy, I am going to add word for word what you wrote the 4th category is, even though I have not seen this yet. I added the 3rd (1:50) clip to the "mirror site" and the NEW (and proper) background image.

So... this is what I guess the geocities site looks like if you could get to it...

I had to pull the files off individually, and you were able to pull everything and zip it up.

Sexbagel was questioning me about these files, and I was questioning him... now YOUR number one on my list of people who knows where these files came from.

I know someone from Foundry knows the story behind this, I just have to figure out who it is. I uploaded your zipped files and the new links that were added. Now the annoying "geocities" advertisement even comes up. I think there is some kind of counter attached to this raw file... so I left it all in to make this a true "mirror site" (http://www.buffnet.net/~paulk/newONATRIX/oa2k4.html).

The only thing I did to the html file was to add "new window" html tags for the hyperlinks to the various websites that were added. If someone clicks on those links a new browser window will open up to go to those sites. You may want to tell the guy who is putting up this geocities page to do that as well! :xyxthumbs
