Suppose for a second that the St. Pat's incident had never happened. That they removed "a house of worship" from the list of places the couples could go. That S4S3 had gone off without a hitch. That the boys were still on today, and had continued to get coverage in the press like they'd been getting since they got syndicated.
Now the Janet Jackson debacle happens. The FCC starts cracking down on "indecency" in the media. Would they still have focused on Howard, who hadn't really been getting much attention in the past few years, or would O&A have become the main target of their witch-hunt?

I could see everyone shitting on them. I think Howard is such a cut throat that he'd call for them to be toned down and we'd be only waiting 2 months for them to come back instead of the painfully long time it's taking.

They'd be totally boned!
They would have called the FCC on all of this bullshit on their show and Infinity would cave into the pressure to shot them up like the spineless bastards they are.....I also have no doubt that Howard would be behind the scenes pointing the finger at them instead of leading the opposition to Michael Powell and the other neo-nazis....

I think the boys probably would have been gone way before Janet Jackson showed us her ugly, evil tit.......it would have been S4S4, voyeur bus 2, another homeless shopping spree, money snatch, or whatever contest they cooked up that went wrong. O&A said so much themselves, that they were there to push the envelope, and something probably would have happened before Nipplegate to push Mel over the edge, if only just to keep douchebag Hoo Hoo from bitchin' in his ear any longer.
This is the one time Howard is unhappy about the boys getting fired. Like so many of you said, he'd be pointing the finger at them right now. He doesn't want to talk about Mancow anymore. If they were still on, they'd be his favorite scapegoats. THey probably would've gotten fired like 2 months ago instead.

SpankDaddy is absolutely right. Think about how many other times they have come close to getting fired. Don't get me wrong, that's why I love 'em, but I think it was inevitable. BTW, I was listenening to SU today and the 01-04-2001 show was on where they said they were almost fired, any NY people care to fill me in on what that situation was?

I am unsure if they would have made it to the FCC's Crackheaddedcrackdown, but if they did, they would definately be off by now (Infinity B. sucks balls)... Listening to SU, I cant believe some of the things they got away with in 99, and 00... Not listening to them regularly, and then finding some SU really made me aprreciate their willingness to push the envelope...
