FU to my sister's college

These people take themselves too seriously. My sister is graduating from a school which now has a new focus of catering to the dregs of society who can barely read. This kid busted her ass for 4 years, and 3 full-summers of courses to be able to graduate with high honors with two degrees. They refuse to give her both of her degrees at graduation. She worked hard and basically had no life, and they won't recognize her for it. But yet they give out countless awards for ridiculously insignificant accomplishments. Their reason is that it is "policy" and they won't budge. They make a big deal about recognizing all kinds of achievement, but for some reason this achievement isn't worth recognizing.

I know it may not seem like that big of a deal to alot of people, but I really see her point. She's considering telling them to F themselves and not even go to the graduation because it's a farce. They're going to let kids get their diplomas who have to take summer courses to make up courses they failed, but they won't acknowledge her for getting two separate degrees that she earned free and clear.

First of all, congratulations are in order:clap: Good for her, hopefully she'll be handsomely rewarded when she searches for gainful employment.

Well college is supposed to prepare you to enter the work force, and as I see it this is just another lesson to be learned about large institutions, corporations or gov't programs. This won't be that last time she'll be banging her head against the wall of frustration because of "policy" or someone's incompetance. I suppose this is why it's better to know people than to know things.

As a college student myself I'd be completely pissed off. You work hard for that and as stupid as it sounds, that walk up to the podium means a lot at graduation.

Its even worse since you said that only a handful of people in her graduating class achieved the same thing. It would only take another 3-4 minutes tops to let everyone do that.
