You can argue this FU belongs in the FU forum, but I think only techies will care either way...

I had to replace the cmos battery on an HP laptop, but it's 50 screws away! Who the hell makes the cmos batt the hardest thing to replace? The designers at HP! FU HP!*

*other shitty companies do this as well.

Why I don't buy HP. They make good business printers, but awful PCs/laptops

Im back to loving apple again... my second machine hasnt broken... yet. I ripped one apart, and they are pretty well put together, but damn, they are hard to put back. Lots of screws in the powerbook.

Those things rock... and are put together pretty well.

Also, Gateway sucks. They won't send laptop parts, even to former employees.

Gateway has gone down the shitter. Former employee here, typing on a Gateway laptop actually. Used to be a GREAT company that made top-notch products.'

Personally, I like HP's stuff. All laptops are a bitch to work on though. I have bent pins in my PCMCIA slots in this laptop. A small child who shall remain nameless because I can't prove it stuck something in there. I put my PCMCIA Wi-Fi card in, and it wouldn't go in all the way. I was like WTF. I pulled it out and flipped open the little spring-loaded doors and found a friggin tab from a soda can in there. Well, when I put in the Wi-Fi card it smashed the soda can tab right into the sockets and bent a shitload of the pins.

I bought the replacement part I need on eBay and I can't get this thing apart all the way to replace it. I can almost get there, but not quite.
