first away sweep since 2001 for the yanks.

most runs ever scored against the yanks in a series.

what a way to spend an independence day.

Shit, I'm more scared of a hot Tony Clark and Shefield's bat then I am of Thome's. Bring on the Phillies. It looks to me like the Mets got some team chemistry going on ( finally ), and are starting to play decent baseball. The next move I would love to see happen........trade Matsui and Howe to Japan for Bobby V, move Reyes back to short, Wiggy to second, and promote Wright to third.

Ya Gotta Believe !!!!!!!!!!

move Reyes back to short, Wiggy to second, and promote Wright to third.

I agree with this part..why would they mess with this kids natural postion (Reyes) for Matsui? But I don't think Bobby V is a solution at all. Howe will be just fine.

ha, i loved bobby v but the players hated him. keep him in japan with benny and matt franco. i think kaz will come around, he was ridiculously good in japan.

Me on Sunday with my crazy mom after the sweep. Check out the little dejected Yankee fan in the back, sucker.

I don't want to trade Wigginton, wish we could move him to 2nd, bring up Wright for 3rd, and have Reyes at 2nd. Screw Crapsui.

I'm not saying Thome sucks, but playing in Coors Field East with a short right field porch may have helped pad that number a bit, don't ya think ??

The players might have hated Bobby V, but the dude got way more production out of lesser talent then Art Howe......and look at the coaches that Howe had that got replaced......Peterson for a lame ass Ruhle and now the ERA of the staff is great, Baylor over Walling and now there hitting. Matt Galante is the next bozo that needs to go, the infield mechanics of this team sucks, and base running is a joke ( Matsui getting thrown out at home from second after Piazza's double over Griffey's head ?? WTF ??? )

......and Papagolash, your Mom's a hottie ( no offense, dude, I'm just saying....)

Base running is definitly an issue..basic skills like bunting and base running seem to be lacking. For a team this fast, they leave too many on base.

I'm not saying Thome sucks, but playing in Coors Field East with a short right field porch may have helped pad that number a bit, don't ya think ??Thome has been either the league leader in opposite field homers or close to it for the past 5 years or so. He's got power no matter how you slice it.

Can someone please tell John Franco that he can't pitch anymore? He needs to retire to the bullpen and grow tomatoes, like Joe Pignatano did.

I really thought the Mets were going to go into Philly and take the series, not sweep it. The Phil's proved they are a good team, they really held their own against a team on fire. Let's face it the Mets were red hot, may still be, but I do not want to jinx it.(Knocking on wood)

I hope they can sweep the Marlins this weekend, and maybe the Phil's will drop tomorrow's game against the Braves. They were blanked today, which surprised me a bit. If the Mets can take tonight's game we might be on our way to a first place tie going into the break.

Let's go Mets!

the only problem i have with this thread and met fans in general is they (and the thread) is soo against the yankees its nuts... i am a baseball fan from new york i like the yankees and mets but i like the yankees more... why can't you guys be the same way?

honestly peewee.... i was also thinking about this earlier....

i love my mets.... and instead of having an "official" mets thread, we have an anti-yankee thread

but in all fairness, i think this thread just evolved from a gloat about a victory to a mets thread

SpotcheckBilly
07-11-2004, 08:15 AM
I renamed it the un-official thread, because it was leaning that way...I'll make an official thread if this bothers people. And for the record, I follow both teams, I just like the Mets a little better.

ask and ye shall receive.

yeah that was a tough one to watch... but there is always tomorrowAnd the Yankees won. It always seems that after a team receives a serious beating they win the next day. Winning the next day gets the bad taste of an ass whoopin' out of the system real quick.
