Apple iTunes Music Store Tops 100 Million Downloads

By TechWeb News

Apple Computer Inc. on Monday said its iTunes Music Store hit the 100 million-download mark over the weekend.

Kevin Britten, 20, of Hays, Kan., downloaded the 100-millionth song Sunday in buying "Somersault (Dangermouse remix)" by Zero7. Apple, based in Cupertino, Calif., will give Britten a PowerBook, iPod and a gift certificate for 10,000 iTunes songs.

In a statement announcing the milestone, Steve Jobs, chief executive of Apple, thanked customers, artists and music labels "who have embraced our dream for iTunes." ITunes leads the online music market.

I wonder how he is going to pay the INCOME tax on all those prizes. :) The powerbook is what 2500(for arguements sake), Ipod(250ish) 10,000 downloads($10,000) = 12750

He will get a real shock come next tax season.

Good point!
And you are estimating on the cheap side for the PowerBook and iPod too.

He actually won a prize and a suprise.
