Google Acquires Picasa

Google Inc. on Tuesday said it has acquired Picasa Inc., a digital photo-management company.
Picasa, based in Pasadena, Calif., develops and markets technology that enables users to organize and share photographs. The company's software "complements Google's ongoing mission to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful," Jonathan Rosenberg, vice president of product management for Mountain View, Calif.-based, Google, said in a statement.
In May, Picasa and Google announced a partnership in which Picasa's technology would be used to publish photos faster to web logs through Google's "Blogger" service.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not relased.
