I have an HP laptop and the wire where my power cord goes into is loose inside, i can fix it if i can get into it but after I take the screws off theres really no way to open it still...how would I go about doing this?

Bewy, bewy cawefully!

Look to see if there is a site that has the schematics to take it apart.

Be sure to discharge any static electricity you may have on your body before touching any of the internal components.

There are possibly clips.. Firmly but GENTLY try and separate the two halves once you are certain you have ALL the screws out. Check under labels, or any removable plastic covers, you'll find screws under those too.

If it has a lift-up keyboard (for easy cleaning), there may be more screws under there.

That would be the DC plug, which is built onto the motherboard inside. Unless you are good with a soldering iron, take it to a pro. Also, HP notebooks are not easily designed. One I worked on recently had the CMOS battery under about 50 screws, on IBM Thinkpads they are 2 screws away.

What is the model? If it was a model I have fixed I can help you with steps... But that port is soldered to the motherboard.. They do get loose from plugging and unplugging the cord.. It can be replaced without having to replace the whole motherboard, we do it in my shop all the time.

I live on the 2nd floor..I prefer to throw stuff out the window. I love the cascade of plastic and metal when the unit hits the driveway.

Second floor is OK, you should try to get access to the third floor!
That's when you start to see some good coverage!

They plan on opening the bridge over the dam in the town where I live soon. When I was in high school we used to drop television sets over the dry side of the dam for the implosion noise.

Have access..I've just been afraid of hitting one of the weekend people, they're mostly all lawyers.

plus I don't need to call attention to the front porch...if you get my meaning.

The hard drive is the second best thing, the screens are always worth a ton!
