Hopefully, it is not life threatening and he makes a full recovery.

Here's the story. (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5512202/)

As a Red Sox fan I will say you never want to see anyone's season end short because of an injury or illness, not even a Yankee. Hopefully he will be OK and playing soon.

I just read about this over at cnnsi.com. I hope he's OK. At least the tests for cancer and HIV came back negative. We don't need another disease named for a Yankees first baseman. Kevin Maas Disease is bad enough.

I'm no Yankee fan either but I wish him a full and speedy recovery.

I looked up this parasite he has . . . and found a couple of interesting items:The infection is "not uncommon" in the tropics and arctics, but also in crowded situations of poor hygiene in temperate-zone urban environments. It is also frequently diagnosed among homosexual men. All people are believed to be susceptible to infection, but individuals with a damaged or undeveloped immunity may suffer more severe forms of the disease. AIDS / ARC patients are very vulnerable. Uh, oh.

Giambi has the ninja.

Can't say I'm a fan of his, but I hope it turns out ok for him.
I don't wish anything like that on anybody.

My Microbiology book and CDC website confirm all the above...shouldn't be hard to treat with the right antibiotics - they just need to nail down what it is...
