Today, I got scammed into going to the airport this afternoon with my girlfriend to pick up her son. Since I had no choice, I decided to try and make something of it, so I took her to Chickie & Pete's (Packer Ave) for lunch on the way down. His flight initially was supposed to be in at 2:30 PM. Well, long story short he came walking through the gate at 7:25 PM. He called us right before he got on the plane and said there was some kind of delay. So, we took our time at Chickie's. We got to the airport about 4PM. The board said his flight was due at 5:49PM. Both of us had to find the restrooms to recycle some beer. Well, We go back and look at the board and it now says 7:13 PM. I nearly lost my mind. So, we had to sit around the damn airport which drove me absolutely nuts. We kept checking the board and they kept changing the times. At one point, they had pushed the time ahead to about 6:00PM. I was considering leaving, finding something to do, and then coming back. Well, considering that they kept changing the time we decided against that.
Eventually, they settled on 6:51PM as the time the plane would be in. He ended up reaching the terminal about 7:25PM. He told us that they sat on the ground for an hour in Indy (which is where he was coming back from). They said that Philly wouldn't give them permission to take off. Apparently the destination airport has to give the ok for the flight to depart.
Well, I got home and found there was some kind of computer glitch that affected US Airways and some other carrier.
Nothing annoys me more than wasting a huge amount of time like this doing nothing productive nor enjoyable. We planned on going to see the new M. Night Shamalyan flick, but by the time we got back from the airport there wasn't enough time.
There was one good point. They have a Krispy Kreme at the airport in Terminal D! I tried one of their frozen creme things. It was ok, nothing special. They don't have hot donuts there, but they did have all the varieties.
