Fuckers would not take my Sirius gear back today. No returns back after 30 days. No discussion no compromise ....nothing from them. I did not even open it.

Before you guys get on my case for not knowing the policy, the stuff was a gift from my wife and I was waiting to return it until I saw where O&A went. So before you go there, be forewarned.

I work in a similar type of retail to Circuit City and I have several suggestions for getting around the return policy. Call the store and ask for the number for the District Manager. Call him/her and explain your situation - it was a gift, you can't use it but would like to exchange it for XM equipment. As long as you are willing to exchange it they shouldn't give you any trouble. If they do, ask them for the number to their President's office for customer complaints. Call them and plead your case, remember to be nice (we always give in to the folks that are nice). It doesn't hurt to mention if you happen to spend your money at circuit city vs. best buy - but don't tell them that you spend thousands of dollars with them - retail companies hear that a lot and usually it's bullshit.

If they still refuse, go in without the receipt and attempt to exchange it. If it doesn't work there - try Best buy etc... someone is bound to have a lax return / exchange policy.

After working at best buy you could try one or both of these methods to get the product returned (i've see both of them work). One is to go towards the end of the lunch break rush that usually occurs, sometime around like 12:45'ish. Be overly nice to the customer service representative and if they won't help, KINDLY ask to discuss the matter with the manager explaining you understand that they have to follow policy and all that b.s., also thanking them a lot for their help with this difficult situation. Also be very polite and overly nice to the manager. This method kind of sucks because you usually sound pretty pathetic but will sometimes work because the rep and manager's are just happy to not have some ass yelling and raising hell like they just did for the past hour so are more inclined to hook you up. Method two is to be that ass during peak hours...5:30 to 7:30ish. Go in and start raising hell with any employee who might have the slightest ability to help you out. Start discussing times you went X-Store (some major competitor) and they fixed this situation easily. In the Circut City cases, discuss how Best Buy treats you so well and their customer service is so much easier to deal with. Also, do this right infront of all the other people waiting to return product. These people are usually already agitated and you raising hell makes it worse. I have seen it happen where managers will cave just to shut someone up. Obviously there is a huge push to keep customers in the store so they don't want anyone getting a bad shopping experience. As long as the stuffs not more than 60 days old you should atleast be able to get store credit for current value, like unit exchange (XM instead), getting your money back is really not an option at this point. good luck, and f retail stores.

Former Best Buy employee here too (PC Repair). What I recommend is going in the week after christmas. They have a two week period where they do exchanges without receipts. I know people that store up stuff in the closet all year that they take out after christmas and return it to BB. As long as its unopened, you'll be good to go.

I have returned many things for store credit at many stores with no receipt. Who says you have to go to CC? Try other stores in your area that have both XM and Sirius. As long as you are doing it for in store credit, you shouldn't run into any problems.

My old gag was to tell them my grandma got it for my birthday/christmas and I didn't want to hurt her feeling by asking for the receipt.
