FU you mother f'ing air conditioner! I'm trying to sell my house and you pick NOW to stop working? FU! So then we turn the thing off and then back on again, and the air FEELS cool, but that was at 3:30 this afternoon when it was about 88 in the house and now its only barely below 75 after 7 F'ING HOURS. Something tells me its not *actually* fixed, but will my man listen to me? Of course not!

Something is screwed up... Get them back out there.

They actually never made it here... My husband got home at 3:30, turned it off, turned it back on and since the air felt cool, he cancelled the appointment with the guy. I get REALLY sick of nagging before anything gets done around here, so I really don't want to have to whine and yell before he calls someone and the stupid thing gets fixed. I would do it, but HE works about 20 minutes from here and has the ability to work from home whenever he wants it, and *I* work 1 hr 15 minutes from here on a GOOD day, and my manager pretty much sucks AND i have to be gone on Thursday and Friday so I feel really bad taking even more time off. And HE thinks its fine, that it just takes time to cool off a house. So here I am, i'm extremely sensitive to temperatures, especially those that go along with humidity (why did I move to DC again?) and i'm miserable and he sees nothing wrong. :(

Take charge and get the repair guy out there, regardless of what your old man says...

Again, I would... but *I* can't meet him... Not until thursday afternoon. Ugh. I'll try the "I really think theres something still wrong... maybe we should call someone" approach one more time...

Try the "you're cut off until the air conditioner is fixed to my satisfaction" approach.

HAH.
Okay, so hes checking the filter, and if its still not cool in the morning, we will call the guy again. Not a lot we can do at the moment, since its so late.

See, I knew that would work. It's what usually finally does the trick to get me to do something.

HAH. Some days I wish. :) Hubby rarely leaves me alone long enough to bang repairmen. Hes not the jealous type really, but he just likes being around me and doesn't tend to need as much "personal" time as I do.
Hrm... This is starting to sound more like an FU to my hubby than an FU to the air conditioner. Which, by the way, seemed fine this morning...

If you clean the filter and hose out the heat exchanger, (while it's running), you should be good to go. Just make sure that nothing is blocking the external unit.

Be happy you aren't in Texas. Last summer the inside part of my unit finally died on me. It just so happened I had quite my job the week before. I was not able to get it replaced until the end of August, and it cost me about $1800.
BTW, it gets very, very hot here in the summer.
