Was it just me or did the they sound like crap, sound wise that is. They sounded all muffled and shit. They sounded better on FM then they do now. And even the callers sounded more alive then they did.

I thought the boys sounded fine, but the callers did sound like crap.

It was bad, but they will work out the technical difficulties.

There were some sound issues, but for me it was more about the varying levels of sound- I would turn it way up to try and hear what the callers (or Norton) were saying, but then Ben would come on and I would start bleeding from the ears because he was so loud comparatively...
Some tech stuff that will undoubtedly be sorted out over time...
Sounded more like a college radio station today than anything else..
Was GREAT to hear them back in action, though...

Heres the link to write XM about the sound quality.

Thanks- my 10-second claim to fame is that I actually got some feedback through to the show this morning...
You may remember a comment from 'Pete' that said (during the Laverne and Shirley segment) 'These two prove it's never too early in the morning to start drinking'...
That was me! :action-sm

I know, I'm savoring the moment- once these guys skyrocket again, I'll NEVER be able to get through... :icon_eek:

They sounded fine to me, the callers sucked, but it sounded like they were messing around with the audio levels in the studio trying to get it right. I think it's O&A's doing, not a problem with XM....just give them a few days to figure it out

Yeah, they sounded very crisp and clear... it was just the levels for everyone were all different. Vos was almost impossible to hear...

All of the Xm channels have a little of that robotic "average qaulity mp3" sound to it.
I hope there is a way they can improve the quality in the future without making us users buy new equipment.

The weird thing about this is that the atmosophere that was on NEW isn't there...like they sound like they're all in seperate rooms. Anyone else get that feeling?
(And I know that Steve C. and Sexbagel were in their cute li'l producer's booth. Hey Robin, they stole your booth hoo hoo.)

I did get that feeling with Steve C and the callers but with Op and Ant talking with each other and Norton killing with great lines and Ben laughing in the backround it still felt like gold old OnA

The difference between the audio on the old show and the audio now is that XM has little (if any) audio processing. Regular radio has racks and racks of Optimod equipment, to make the sound consistent... to make everything and everybody sound exactly the same volume. XM believes in keeping the sound "natural" and "uncompressed".
I think they REALLY need to put processing on O&A's channel. The channel also needs more bandwidth, so that when they're playing music, it's actually in stereo and doesn't sound like shit.
Other than that, it's great to hear the b-b-b-b-boys back! ("BACK?! That means ASS SEX!!!")
DILLON!
Juicy :clap9:

"natural" and "uncompressed" = sounds like shit.
At least they're fucking back though! sheesh. two years.
I can handle the audio problem until they figure it out.
just imagine what the audio will be like if they get fired and i have to trade in my XM equipment for CB equipment.

lol!
Good one.
This is how I feel about it as well.
It's funny - because sometimes XM sounds *killer* - and other tiimes it's like the dude said about - it's got that "average MP3 quality about it.
But then again - I'm using the FM modulator - so that could be a factor.
Still lovin' it, though. In the end, it's the *content* that really matters - and this content is sooo good.

We all know that Opie likes to handle his own knobs. It's just gonna take some time for them to get their levels right.

the volume was messy.... it would get real loud, then voices would get low and id blast my stereo, they they'd get loud again.. and yes my signal was 3 bars...they should work it out

ita all about COMPRESSION. Throw the right amount onto those mics and the highs and lows will balance out nicely!

I don't know about anyone else, but the sound seemed different on the replays to me. I could barely hear Norton sometimes on the live show, but it seemed better on the replays. Am I crazy?

It's the first show. Cut 'em a fucking break.
Things will get better. I have no doubt of that.

Steve C....ear bleeding
The boys....not up to snuff
Norton....barely audible at times
The comics and drops during breaks....perfect

Anybody else notice that anytime Steve C's mike came on there was this eardrum-bursting thump noise? And that the "Dylan" sound effect sounds like it's being played in the next room?
