I think it's great... But oo expensive, and I was hoping for a walkman attachment for my Roady 2... I can afford to spend $350 for this. Damn, what can I sell on e-mail to get this :icon_conf
Anyone want to buy a new pair of skis never used (170cm)?

Why would they make this thing able to "record" 6 hrs of XM radio but not be an MP3 player. I know, I know they don't want the whole pirating issue on the back, but if they would integrate the 2 devices I think people that don't want another thing to carry around would flock to them.
I may get one of these though....so I can move it from car to car and leave the Roady2 at home.

battery life is pretty bad... =(
How are you supposed to store 5 hours of radio when the player only works up to 5 hours on a battery =(.. Guess you'll have to leave it plugged in....
Its expensive too, but it has plenty of goodies :D

It looks like a very nice unit but I'm kinda bummed. I got my Roady2 anticipating the portable attachment that was previewed in May. The Roady2 works great for me, I use it on the home stereo, at the computer, I take it on the bus and listen during the commute, I hook it up in the office, and then back home again, all with 1 radio, 1 subscription.
I don't want to pay for more than one radio per month, so I have decide which one to go with. My current portable setup gives me 4 hours of battery, not much improvement with the myfi. And the myfi price tag is way out of line.
If the price was $199 with no additional subscription fee for an additional radio, I'd grab it, but it just doesn't seem like it's worth $350 plus another $8.99 a month to have both.
Once the price drops down, maybe I'll get rid of my Roady2 in favor of the myfi, but I hope they don't abandon the Roady2 portable.

What would make it perfect would be a built in FM modulator, longer battery life and mp3 storage. I wonder how hard it would be to "modify" one.........

a really cool unit I like the 5 hours recording the best. alot of the Xm live and standup sit downs i miss. Because of the time they are on. The battery life is 5 hours many peopel have concerns I don't though most times you will be in a car or home to recharge so I'll use on my walks but thewy are never over 3 hours. I allready put myself on the preorder list as well. So who needs roady 2 with home unit IF I EVER GET IT FROM THE REBATE PLACE

The reason the battery life is so short is because the higher frequency you deal with, the more power is consumed. My Roady2 uses almost an amp I think, which is insane for a device that small. 5 hours on a battery is a huge technological leap forward. They must have cut power usage drasticly. It's a much bigger acheivement then it first appears.
The high cost is probably because they needed to specially build a manufacturing plant for the chip that handles recieving / modulation / demodulation. It probably requires special architecture. The price will definitly go down when the plant matures and they pay off the start up costs.
That's good news for the XM-Sirius war as well, because the Sirius portable device when it eventually gets released will have a $350ish period as well, and by that time the XM one will probably be like $80-100.

Maybe the MyFi will drop to that price in time for Hoohoo.
Shit, I did a survey for this a week or two ago. I think the commercial I watched made me think it was a Sirius unit. I told them I didn't want such a thing...
That's why I remember the dog in the cab commercials despite never having seen them.
Even so, Elton John running around with it? A bit fruity...

By that time they will have a MYfi2 a Skfi3 and a roady4. I can see in the near future they make a deal with a online music company to have a way to buy the songs right from there. But for me I used to be a download music hog over 50,000 songs and 3000 albums. Since I got XM Ihave no need to download I came full circle. But back on topic soon I see Ipod and delphi getting together. will be huge

$350 is way too much coin for this unit...never buy the first version of anything gauranteed this thing has lots of bugs I'll wait till thats all ironed out (ie skyfi1 vs skyfi2). Maybe if they offered it in peices I'd buy it I dont need all that stuff that comes with it.

I just bought a bunch of equipment too, but would LOVE to upgrade to the MyFi. I wonder if we all get together and start a petition or something (or get the BBBoys aboard) they can give some sort of current customer discount or a "trade up" rebate or something. What do you all think?

']$350 and only 5 hours battery life? That's unacceptable.
Thats pretty standard I think for the Roady 2 home made batterie kits. Power to Sat antenna probably. Thing is if this didn't come with recording capabilities and was 150$ less I would buy it. I am still holding out for the roady 2 portable kit.

$350 price point? are they fucking high?? XM should take the route the game consoles go, take a loss on the hardware and try to make it (R&D costs) up with their services.
