If the Redskins win today Bush will win, if they lose Kerry will win. Anytime they win the weekend before the election the incumbant wins.

Actually it's just the opposite..Bush will lose (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-redskinspoliltics&prov=ap&type=lgns)

If history holds, the 28-14 result portends a victory for Kerry on Tuesday because the result of the Redskins' final home game before the presidential election has always accurately predicted the White House winner. If the Redskins win, the incumbent party wins. If they lose, the incumbent party is ousted.

Ok, now I'm totally confused. But since this is a CE
thread, that's not unusual for me......:icon_roll

According to the theory, if the Redskins win their game before the election, the incumbent wins(since 1936 I believe). On the other hand, if the Redskins opponent the game before the election beats them then the challenger wins.

The Packers beat the Skins 28-14 this afternoon, so according to this trend, John Kerry will be winning the white house on Tuesday.

Yep..This is what I posted a couple days ago. It was on Snopes.

Claim: The outcome of Washington Redskins football games has correctly predicted the winner of every U.S. presidential election since 1936.

Status: True.

FOOTBALL + ELECTION

Did you know....??

The Washington Redskins have proved to be a time-tested election predictor. In the previous 15 elections, if the Washington Redskins have lost their last home game prior to the election, the incumbent party has lost the White House. When they have won, the incumbent has stayed in power.

This election year, that deciding game takes place on Sunday, October 31 ... vs. Green Bay.

Go Pack!!!

Its not just the last game before the election. Its the last home game before the election, which, this year, also happens to be the last game before the election.

We've been inundated with this story around here.

However, seeing that Boston won the World Series all bets are off.

Bush will mange to take this one, again!

The direct source of the story is posted right above, but thanks for the brutal overkill :)

However, the Sox won the World Series this year, so all bets are off in this bizarro world. I'm just happy the election is almost over, the political whining should drop off a bit.
