Call the Election, your predictions @ wackbag.com. Let's not let this devolve into a flame war.
I predict neither will win outright and the matter will be settled in the House of Reps.

I predict that old people will not like seeing me show up at the polling place because I'm not 97 and I might not base my vote on which candidate is more likely to get Medicaid to cover Depends.

I have a feeling Bush will win getting around 280 electoral votes.
Old people are funny, if the did research they would find out that Kerry sponsored a bill to raise taxes on Social Security.
Bush put through the prescription drug bill to get the old vote. Woman behind me will save $1600 on medications now. She's a democrat that is now voting for Bush.

I think Kerry will win. I think the polls are way off. If you remember the media annointed Howard Dean the Democratic candidate. I do fear they will steal the election again. I know a few guys from Florida who haven't received their absentee ballots yet.

I think we should all vote for everyone but president.
If they get all the ballots back with no vote for president,
then maybe we can hold a real election with 2 people really
worth holding the office.

I take our right to vote very serious. Even though in percentage wise my vote counts very little in the presidental race it still means something. (cue background music or ping pong your choice). This what makes our country special we change leaders with out civil unrest. And remember there are more than the 2 choices thats why I am voting Nader yes he has no chance of winning but he belives and his issues stand for what I belive in. Plus you have to also remember the local issues and persons running where your vote does count alot. this also goes for other elections to the school budget, fire chief, Lib. budget. Most of those votes are won by under 100. I personally voted for my buddy as fire chief which i never did befroe and he won by 2 votes. So don't throw away your vote buy not voting use it to speak what you belive in. ok give me the train sound byte. to keep on topic Nader buy a landslide

I'm afraid that this will turn into another mess like 2000. There's a good chance that this will be close, and if that's the case, you can guarantee that the losers will fight for a way to win, as Gore tried to do in 2000. If Kerry narrowly wins, I think the republicans/conservatives will put up a moderately quiet fight...but if Bush wins again narrowly, I expect the democrats and liberals to be all over the place with their allegations. I mean, come on, Michael Moore is already in Florida just waiting to cry foul...and you know that good ole Al Sharpton already has his plane ticket booked to Florida.
I totally expect this thing to get ugly. But, I gotta go with Bush (286 electoral votes). Kerry will clean up in the northeast/mid-atlantic, west coast, Min., Mich., and Illinois. Bush will narrowly win in Florida, but still by a bigger margin than 2000. Oh, and Michael Moore will deal with his depression by sitting on his couch, stuffing his fat face with as many Big Macs as he can muster. Two years later, he will be found dead due to inactivity and having his flesh become molded to the fabric on his couch.
Wishful thinking, I know.

OK, sit down . . . this could take a while. I've done the math, I've listened to what the pundits have said, I've read the tea leaves, and here's my in-depth analysis:
Bush will carry the South, Alaska, Indiana and most of the midwest. Kerry will take the Northeast, the West coast, the Mid-Atlantic, and most of the Great Lakes area.
By my calculations, that puts Bush at 232 votes, Kerry at 227.
So that narrows it down to a handful of states that could go either way, depending on which polls you believe:
1. Pennsylvania: personally, I think this will go to Kerry easily; based on the news coverage I've seen, Kerry's supporters are out in far greater numbers than Bush's (anybody else see Anderson Cooper 360 last week . . . that lone desperate Bush sign struggling to get on camera in the sea of Kerry signs :icon_mrgr ). 21 votes.
2. Iowa: this was ridiculously close in 2000 as well, but Gore ulitmately won it. Even so, I'm going on a gut feeling and putting this one in Bush's column. 7 votes.
3. Ohio: this could be the new Florida. A huge number of counties here are still using those stupid fucking punch card voting machines that acquainted us all with the term "chad" last time around. Look for this one to drag out for a while. But if i had to guess, I would say the jobs lost in the last 4 years will give Kerry the edge. 20 votes.
4. Florida: here's a novel way to fix the voting machine problem: replace confusing punch cards with confusing touch screens. Put fancy electronic equipment in front of a bunch of senior citizens that can't set the clock on the VCR. Hopefully, the huge number of people voting early and filing absentee ballots will prevent a repeat of 2000 here, but early reports seem to indicate that this is already turning into another giant cluster-fuck. My gut says that Jeb Bush will see to it that his brother takes Florida. 27 votes.
And so, with Bush at 266 and Kerry at 268, believe it or not, it all comes down to:
5. Hawaii: usually reliably Democratic, Hawaii seems to defy categorization this year; Democratic polls show it leaning towards Bush, Republican polls show it leaning towards Kerry. So neither side gets the answer they want from Hawaii, but only one can be right. And with polls that don't close until 11 PM Eastern time, they'll be the latest to report, so we won't have a clear answer until at least Wednesday morning. Being too far away to fit into a campaign schedule that has Bush & Kerry each visiting 4-5 states a day, both parties seem to have ignored Hawaii in the last leg of the race, and so has the media, so it's hard to get a read on the voters from afar. My guess: the economy has probably hit Hawaii hard, since inflation there is always higher than on the mainland (gas was $1.50/gal before the first Gulf War, back when it was under $1/gal here); the blame for the economy, rightly or wrongly, usually falls on the President in the voters minds - so I'll put it in Kerry's column. 4 votes.
Thus then: Kerry 272, Bush 266.
Or I could be talking out of my ass. :icon_mrgr
P.S. Excuse the long-winded lecture . . . it comes from watching nothing but CNN for a week while I was away on a business trip in a hotel with a shitty 5 channels of cable.

I think Bush is going to win it pretty easy. Kerry is a terrible candidate and if he cannot beat Bush with his TERRIBLE record he should be thrown out of politics. I voted this morning and I thought it was interesting they didnt even ask me for ID.

It's too bad that other, viable parties don't have a chance in these elections.
The Demicans and Republicrats in power have structured the current electoral process to exclude them. Bipartisanship working to avoid nonpartisanship. Lovely, ain't it?
Between the giant douche and the turd sandwich, I chose neither but still voted for a presidential candidate.
Someone just mentioned that they hope Bush wins because then they would stop hearing all of the people around them giving them shit for it. I hear where you are coming from, having up until recently been an ardent Bush supporter.
I half hope that he will win so that the HActorvists (Hacks, Actors, Activists) will shutup and realize that their word is no more important than anyone elses (are you listening, hoo-hoo?).
Ya know why? Because if Kerry wins today then EVERY election in which there is a conservative running all of the useful idiot hollywood elites will be running their clap-trap thinking that they should have more of a say in American politics than we do. People like Michael Moore, George Soros, Margaret Cho, Noam Chomsky, Bruce Springsteen, Eddie Vedder, George Clooney, Cameron Diaz, Ben Affleck, Howard Stern, Puff Dicky, and the rest of the know-nothing glitterati DO NOT need to feel empowered or justified by the results of this election.
Another side of me wants to see Kerry elected; if he can fix things that's cool. I'm almost willing to give him a shot. I personally don't think he can though, in fact I suspect he would make things worse, and I think that would be evident by the 2008 (paging Rudy Giuliani...).
I voted for the same guy Penn Jillette voted for, but not because Penn Jillette endorses him but because I voted my concience. The fact the Penn endorses him is a happy coincidence.

The fact the Penn endorses him is a happy coincidence.I find it ironic that people get pissed when "famous" people back Kerry but when they support Bush its not a big deal. Anyone that bases a vote based on a "famous" person is an idiot. That being said I have no issue with these people speaking out. Everyone is allowed to have opinions and just because they can be heard on a large scale people get jealous. If I could speak to the whole state of NJ today I wish I could. I am a HUGE Pearl Jam fan and I have seen over 50 shows. I have no issue with Eddie speaking out once in awhile. I mean hell if you listen to the music its clear what his opinions are. If you don't like it then dont listen and dont go to shows. As for Rudy I hope he doesnt run in 2008. People will vote for him based on 9/11 and not the fact that on 9/10 he was one of the most hated people in NYC. I look forward to seeing guys like McCain and Biden take a shot. They are both with a party but they tend to vote for whats right not just with the party.

Republicans aren't going to win NY regardless of Rudy being on the ticket.
McCain and Biden both lost their previous attempts, both because of smear campaigns against them... I don't recall Biden being a centrist like McCain.

See now these people have fans from both sides. I was particularly pissed when i went to ozzfest and saw ozzy taunting bush in his music video. I didnt pay $100 and take a day off from work to go to the DNC. I went to listen to music. Yes i know you can say some of his songs are based on politics blah blah blah. But there are ways to do stuff at a sensitive time like this (without angering people and causing them to lose all respect for you)
Wow I am rereading this and realized that last line made me come out like a liberal. God Im disgusted, i think i need a shower.

I don't get how non-political public figures like to stick their heads out into politics, it doesn't make them any money and puts them at risk of alienating half of their potential audience.
