I discovered that when my car is parked in my garage my home stereo picks up the FM modulator. I think about 20-30 feet is the maximum distance between the car and the home antenna for it to work. Or you can use a regular radio boombox in the room closest to your garage. Another quick fix is to go to RADIO SHACK and get a power adaptor for 10 bucks (take your unit in with you and make sure it works in the store before you buy it) but you wll have to take the xm antenna in and out of the house. Either way, I just avoided buying a home kit.:icon_mrgr

I use the antenna from my armie (not much use for it in fall) and a power adapter from radio shack. I pick up O&A on every single radio in the house, it's just like before. I couldn't be happier!
Still going to buy the MyFi though.

yeah the home kit is cool because I can take it anywhere in my house.
and I dont park in my garage so it may be a stretch to make it to the closest stereo.
actually i have never hooked it up to a stereo, i hook it up to my computer speakers and chill online while listening.

FM Modulator sucks ass.. hrmm lets take a DIGITAL SIGNAL and MAKE IT ANALOG with the quality of FM. No wonder everyone can't hear the show!
If ur brining ur shit in your home, plug it in directly to ur AUX port on your stereo :P

I use my Roady in the house with it's fm mod/power cord. ( it's the old
style Roady, not the R2) The signal carries all over my house and
yard and it sounds very clear. It's more convenient than hardwiring.
All you need is this adapter, model # 22-505:

I am not sure it is that important to have a digital signal for the O & A show, but I do not listen to the music stations with this setup. I am just happy I can hear them again.
And I plugged the unit in to my computer speakers before I discovered the FM radio trick. It was just a pain to keep re-doing the antenna.
BTW one of the stoners talked about this today, but I think he was full of shit about the 1/4 mile reception range. I pulled the car out of the garage, and the signal died.

house and my repair shop. If you aren't in the city and have alot
of buildings around, it will go further.

I have the Roady 2 with the built in modulator, so the signal is probably weaker than the external modulator for the Roady.

O&A/XM special. It's an extra cord, but it works well for my purposes.
Hopefully, they will make the newer units with stronger mods built in.

i bought a belkin modulator at wal mart for less than 20 bucks and use a sony walkman to listen to it. it works all over the house and any where in my yard
i also have the home kit from ziggy so i just have to move the roady itself back and forth from home to car. but i cant listen at work so mostly i just listen to the 6:00 pm replay. i have kids so i have to use the headphones. works great.

I finally got my Roady2 and a home kit last night (YAY!) and I'm still trying to configure everything. I'll probably just keep the home antenna at the house and take the micro antenna with me into work.

The micro antenna sucks to move around. Every time you move it, it turns in to a string of knots!

Yeah, I just found that out. I'll probably put a rubber band on it.
I can't get a signal at my office at all. I guess I'll just have to listen to the first two hours of O&A and catch the rest after work.

Ziggy has 2 different lengths of antenna extension cords on his site too, just in case you want to move it to a window.
There is also an antenna booster that is pretty expensive,

If you have trouble with a signal in your house, just put the magnetic antenna on your Keys, works like a charm.

I have a SkyFi (got a password for ordering direct from XM for $49.99, SkyFi with home or car kit - best buy employee password baby!) and I got the home kit, I then bought a car kit, for another $49... not bad, XM in the house and the car for $100... I got 2 cradles, 2 power adapters, and 2 antennas!
