"The operators of a now-defunct group home on Glenn School Road have settled a lawsuit that accused them of allowing retarded boys to be serviced by a prostitute, inflicting long-lasting psychological damage on the youths. American Human Services of Raleigh, which operates a string of North Carolina group homes for mentally handicapped children, settled the case just as it was about to go to trial this week in Durham County Superior Court... The cases began in May 2002, when two counselors at the group home twice hired prostitute Latrina Shagail Battle to provide sexual services to four teenage boys with IQs as low as the 40s. The counselors, Eddie Holden and Robert Fuller Garrison, pleaded guilty last year and received six-month jail terms, five years of probation and $500 fines."
