Anyone else think those motherfucking WOW PSAs are the dumbest fucking sweepers in the history of the universe?

And stop playing the same fucking comic bits during the commercials! I'd be happier with five minutes of cross-promotion.

I hate the repetitive comedy bits, too, but have you ever listened to xmcomedy for any length of time? The commercials for that fucking hypnotist bitch piss me off. Sell a cock pill commercial or two, for christ's sake! Anything!

i don't mind the comedy bits, but they could mix them up or something. deer penis (i don't even get it), and the prior army bit is really starting to get played out.

Like nortons mule said, id rather hear some cross promotion then the same tired awful bits over and over.

I would like to see the breaks grouped into a few 6 minute segments other than many 3 minute segments. 3 minutes is NOT enough time to run to the bathroom or get a snack if you really want to catch everything they say.

They need more variety in what they play during the breaks.

Volume level changes still seem to be a problem, though not as bad as the beginning.

I left a message on the FU line for those god damn WOW psa's they were funny the first 2000 fucking times, it wouldn't be as bad if they would break them up but they play all 3 in the same fucking break. then all three again the next break .

Straight up, yes, I'd much rather hear repetitive bits than repetetive commercials. But Jesus motherfucking Christ if I have to hear one of the UPS Touchtone Terrorist bits again, or that fag bit about "carving the shit" out of people's heads, or a doctor fucking his patient in the ass (with the debt collector) I'm going to scream.

It does seem like they are adding new comedy stuff as they go along. You gotta remember, they can't just go buy a CD and start playing it on the air, they have to work it out with whatever record label put out the CD in order to play it.

Agreed. And I really think this boils down to the fact that XM has NO FUCKING clue what they have here- they clearly think they just have one of the better "shock"(according to them) radio shows, and don't view them in the light of the ANTIStern that they could be for XM. When I called Listener Care today the recorded message said it all. It went something like: "Thank you for calling XM Radio, home of Major League Baseball and Nationally Syndicated Public Radio Host Bob Edwards." Then they said something else and only then did I hear something to the effect of, "you can also get Opie and Anthony on channel 202 for $1.99."

Now, I motherfucking guarantee you that when Stern moves to Siri all you'll hear about Siri is Stern. When you walk into Best Buy, all the ads will have Stern's face on them, standups, commercials, etc. Which is why it sucks ass to hear that O&A have "given up", even if I don't believe them. I will grant you O&A don't have quite the namebrand as Stern, BUT THEY COULD. And the fact that there has been literally ZERO promotion and that your local electronics guys generally have NO CLUE O&A are on means they haven't recieved even a goddamn piece of paper into those stores explaining this new option for XM. Get your heads out of your cunts, XM. I like ya and want you to succeed over radios the size of my retarded cousin's noggin.

EDITED TO ADD that during the first weeks when Op complained someone told the boys "you're one of 150 channels." Fine. Look at it that way. Then lick a poisoned chode and die.

I'm not knocking the show here but it is partially up to them to add stuff to the show. Obviously they don't want everything that XM plays on 150 to be on their channel, they're focusing on stuff they like. I'm pretty sure Sexbagel has posted on other threads here about how they, meaning the show, are adding new music and comedy bits day by day. Maybe XM actually takes care of it, but the show has to tell them what to get.

Looks like Howard might be on Sirius sooner rather than later. If they dont make it easier for O & A and their staff to PROGRAM THE FUCKING CHANNEL THE WAY THEY WANT IT and make High Voltage entertaining 24/7 then Howard is gonna whip their asses.

The fucking same comedy bits are whats making their breaks really unbearable, otherwise I would be listening to the channel all day. Imagine how many people you can get on board by promsing a good comedy show with lots of musical and comic variety in between, and during variety hours?

valley_stream
11-11-2004, 06:39 PM
As far as the same bits always being played, this is a mystery to me too as far as who controls that and why they confine themselves to those same bits. It's clearly not o+a who make that call and I think this is an area they SHOULD be in charge of the same way stern will control 3 channels on his company's system

XM has got to do something soon. Stern's going to jump sooner rather than later and while word of mouth is very strong for O & A, it's nothing compared to a commercial during a sports event or a billboard. The commercial breaks (bits?) are horrible - I feel like XM is scared to promote them or something... UGH... so frustrating! Everyone I play the show for loves it, so why not promote it more!

End rant.

its identical to the last sticker except for the location. How will this promote them? Unless you examine the damn sticker, you wont notice that o&a went to sat radio, you'll think your just some ultra loyal fan from WNEW or someone that doesn't have a razor blade.

I dont like the lack of effort. Just anohter example of xm's promotional blitz!

The only funny Ozzy line was when he said, "bop, now it's mine".
On a related note, I hate Ben. I hate it when he laughs, cackles, breaths and of course speaks anywhere near a mic. Anytime he opens his mouth all the clear stuff gets caught on his vocal cords, as he gurggles out some showstopping, witless, drab statement.
Whenever he starts to speak I automatically lower the volume. He makes me fucking ill as does Artie Lange, that bloated ball of hoo hoo ass kissing failure.
Other than that, the shows a peach!

This is what I wrote to the fine folks at XM.

I'm a subscriber of XM radio, and pay for two installations. I joined solely for Opie & Anthony. I have to say, I am extremely disappointed that I have seen zero effort on the part of XM Radio to promote this fine, amazingly entertaining show. Wake up, XM. Howard is coming sooner rather than later, and if you guys don't let people know O&A are back and better than ever, you're going to have trouble once Howard makes his move. You KNOW sirius isn't going to drop the promotional ball as you are with regard to Opie & Anthony.

Thank you,

Joseph M

Love the show, love the boys...they are clearly the best thing on radio.

BUT...certain aspects/jokes are already starting to wear a little thin.
Such as:
The constant JFK (He stops and has a coke) and Full Metal Jacket (Are *blank* allowed in the barracks Private Pyle?) references.

Saying that they want to stop talking about the St. Pats scandal and that they want it to go away...only to keep playing clips from it and to talk about how they want it to go away for the 8000th time.

Daily complaints about XM...sounding a little hoo-hoo-ish here.

Now, while I appreciate a good bitching rant as much as the next guy, I honestly think the boys are doing the same quality of show, if not better, than they ever did on WNEW. They have ALWAYS spent days tooling on a particular bit, and then it fades away. It's the way they do it. They get bored of it about the same time we all do. As new stuff happens, the old stuff takes a back seat, not to be heard from again until a Worst Of show.

I'm actually kind of surprised by this because it's almost inflating numbers...

If you think about it, you can only listen to one radio at a time but if you have an in dash car receiver and maybe a MiFi unit you will be listed as two listeners...

Interesting....

I'm not defending it but somebody's wife, kid, etc. could easily be listening to another one.

True... And therein lies the loophole of why you have to pay for both...

It's like car insurance...

A buddy of mine just got a Viper and his wife isn't allowed to look at the car no less drive it, but she's on the insurance because she's a licensed driver in the house...

I added two additional radios to my account for the $6.99 price and then found out that they do not get the O&A show. I have to pay an additional $1.99 per radio. This kind of pisses me off....I guess the idea of getting the car stereo with XM built in was a bad idea. Damn it I guess I should have looked into this prior to the purchase. I can't justify the cost on all three stereos so I guess I have to pick the one I listen to the most.

at least you get O&A for free next week. :icon_wink

only problem I have with the show, is I wish that the pictures from the days events should be posted the day that the show airs. Also I wish that xm can get it together and get a goddamn live camera in the studio. thats all

- They play the Good Bad Ugly song so Jimmy has time to put his headphones on after arriving at the studio at 6:02am. Also so that they can get situated in the studio before they turn the mic's on.

- Some guy named Wifflebatlube that posts here occassionally and seems to know a lot about the show posted recently that O&A are trying very hard to get the premium channel thing fixed.

- I believe Ant's Dr. Smith impression will fade now that he died. I don't think he's used it much since they've been on XM.

- Many things with the show seem to be overcomplicated by Steve C's advanced technical knowledge. Like the duplicate release forms for the guests, and the fact that they can't get music behind 'Police got my car.' So it probably takes him like 100x as long to get a picture up on Foundry as it does for Cage to get a Photoshop of him on fire up here. While I'm at it, I'm also going to blame him for the premium channel thing. He's got big shoulders...

- My problem with Guess What's in My Pants is that they only get fat chicks to do it. I think O&A should give the rest of their MyFi's away to the 5 hottest 'non-professional' chicks that come into the studio between now and the rest of the year. Better looking women equals more gooder radio.
