"Even before the gay-sex scandal that brought him down, disgraced New Jersey Gov. Jim McGreevey frequented female strip clubs and narrowly dodged a scandal involving a hooker, it was reported yesterday... during his successful 2001 gubernatorial run, McGreevey often visited City Lights, a Paterson go-go bar owned by the son of a political ally, the paper reported. McGreevey also patronized Studio Six, Atlantic City's premier gay nightclub, at least twice during that campaign... Even more potentially damaging was a near-scandal involving a prostitute named Myra Rosa, 26, who told the Star-Ledger in October 1997 that McGreevey had paid her for sex numerous times over a two-year period in the early '90s. But only weeks later, she retracted her story and left for Florida."
