They've been back for a little bit now, but any time I come to this board everyone is bitching about a bit, or how many times they're heard this joke, or the guests. Can everyone just stop and realize just how great it is to even HEAR them? My only complaint, is with XM. They're really dropping the ball with promotion.
They need to cut Stern off at the knees, before he arrives on Satellite. A promotional onslaught is really in order here, especially with the Christmas season upon us. XM is far too comfortable with their current lead in the Satellite radio race. While I don't think things will change, and I fully believe that XM is the superior company, with the superior programming, but it's complacency that could be their downfall.

A heavy campaign of TV spots consisting of something as simple as "The most hilarious show on satellite radio doesn't arrive in 2006, it's happening NOW on XM Satellite Radio. OPIE AND ANTHONY ONLY ON XM!" Shit like that, over and over again, in conjuntion with a Christmas sale on Roadys, could set this whole thing off.

Or a commercial where the boys are talking and everything is being bleeped, and then show an XM Radio and have it say "Guaranteed to remove bleeps, or your money back!!"

I think their is kind of a lot of bitching but most of it revolves around XM not OnA. Also i think one of the big differences between OnA and Stern fans is that Stern fans are zombies and are incapable of bitching/criticizing his show where as OnA fans can critic the show honestly.

Ask a stern fan and they say everyone of sterns shows are great and with out fault ask an Ona fan and we can say when OnA have a bad show(few and far between).

I think most all of the bitching that is bone is directed at XM not O&A made worse buy the $1.99. Not that $1.99 is allot of money....it just adds to the annoyance factor. You pay extra for a station that cant play more than 6 Fing comedy bits a week. Its annoying as hell.

Facts are facts when O&A were on WNEW I never changed the station during commercials.....now I tune away from comedy bits because I have heard them 20x in the last week. Everytime I have friends in my car, I put on O&A to get them into it. When they say that a bit isn't funny and I agree with them, should I argue with them about the bit? No. I admit that the bit sucks but tell them about the really funny bits. I do the same thing here. If I like a bit, I'll say it. If I don't like a bit, I'll say that too. It's far from bashing the show.

i agree with joem about the advertising thing. xm needs to get off their asses and fix this. to start, they need to give another channel to O & A, and let them do a four hour show when ever the hell they feel like it. keep the main show loop going on 202, and open up another channel they can go late, and host special events on.
they have eight freaking college football channels that lay dormant until saturdays...why can't the boys have at the very least, another channel of their own, that they have complete control over. in NY. if the oompa loompa can manage a whole channel by himself, i'm sure they staff at O n A can.
you can tell they wanted to go late a couple of mornings. it feels like they can't because of washington.

i'm very positive about the show. no matter how shit doesn't go the way i hoped, i can still catch the program.

I have not complained. Good show, bad show ... at least they are new shows.

XM may not be advertising but somehow fans are finding out. I mentioned one fan that had an old new WOW sticker with the new nicely cut out. he had XM already installed and had 202.

yesterday i found another fan. He did the grass roots thing. had a home made WOW sticker, a homemade XM logo next to it, and next to those "The Boys Are Back". I told him I will slap a new xm WOW sticker on his SUV next time I pass it.

Dose washinton need to promote more? do they need to fix things? do they need to straighten things out? yes.

But O&A are back, and for now that's good for me. I can spread the virus and make sure others know. that works too.

The thing that drives me nuts about all the bitching is that someone bitches about just about every bit done on the show. Not everything they do on each show is going to be something that every listener likes. Do you really think that a couple people bitching will make them change what they are doing? An even better question is do you think they should change what they atre doing because of a couple people bitching? Should the people who enjoy a certain bit not be able to hear it anymore because a couple people bitched about it on a message board? I think not. O & A have not gotten to where they are by not knowing how to put together a show that appeals to a wide variety of people. Just because you may not like a bit doesn't mean you should go running around bitching to everyone else about it. Either change the channel for a few minutes until the bit is over or just sit through and wait for the next bit that you will probably like. Any way you get through it, you should have enough respect for other fans who do enjoy that bit to not go around slamming it and whining like you're the most important person on earth.

I view the whole deal as a bucket full of fish..
You want to keep the fish you have and also snag as many as you can before your opponent..Once people buy a system it's that much harder to get them to your side..

I don't think they need an "O and A" commercial," although that would be nice. All they need is a commercial that acknowleges that O and A is part of the package.

How bout a Superbowl commercial. You only need to run it once, which saves money in the long run, and that it the only time, the viewer is pretty much guaranteed to watch the commercials.

XM can do that whole, AM to FM to XM, or whatever they do, and then with just title cards, say XM has..

100 COMMERCIAL FREE MUSIC CHANNELS
BOB EDWARDS
AND THE OPIE AND ANTHONY SHOW.
