**See This Page With Full Graphics, Pictures and Color!** CLICK HERE --> : New Intro for the Monday show?
Opie said last week that he is tired of the intro. O&A control that in house. Do you think Steve took the hint and there will be a new one today?

could be, they have been changing the clip between Ecstasy and SFM back and forth between the 2 they have so i guess they're trying to change shit up

if steve does do a new one, you can bet it a) won't be funny and b) will involve domestic violence and possibly homosexual undertones
Well, new Ecstacy of Gold version, but the intro is an old one.

Well, new Ecstacy of Gold version, but the intro is an old one.
The intro is totally NEW!
i thought the new one was really good, but i hope they continue to play the old ones too...
New intro music is blech. It's not what I'm used too.

i don't like the new "ecstacy of gold." The original version has more energy to it i think...the rest of the new intro is good
The middle part wasn't new...or at least it was just the same clips rearranged.
The sound quality of the old X of gold was just terrible.
They rooned street fighting man. :(

see, the old version was kinda crappy bitrate-wise. it sounded bad in mono.

11-15-2004, 06:58 AM
i didn't really notice that with the bitrate. but yea, the middle part is new, just the news clips rearranged

I totally agree, I like the old version of Street Fighting Man-it's much better. The middle part was pretty good though.

I gotta be honest... I love hearing my WB bytes start off the show... but it is a tad old now. And the producer in me has to point out the fact that the byte where Lynne says "no-compete clause isn't up until October" is now VERY dated.
Who used to do the intros/sweepers back in the 'NEW days?

New remix of SFM = less gooder. No need to touch the Street Fighting Man. It rocks as-is.

you gotta take this board with a grain of salt anyways

The actual opening sweeper for the show was good, but I don't care for the redo of the G,B,& U music at the beginning, and Street Fighting Man needs to be pure. That's what we're used to.

Everything was ok up until the re-done Rage song. That..that..that...whatever the fuck it was really sucked! It had no power, no aggression. It was the equivalent of Kenny G playing a Slayer cover with a wigger DJ behind him. If it aint broke as they say.
And while I'm on the topic of wiggers, whats the story with all the "mash ups". Am I the only one who hates that shit?
New Street Fighting Man not more gooder. Sounded like a MIDI file.
First part of new soundclip segment good. Then it went on too damn long.
Funny though, we all complain that things aren't working and when they change, we comment again. It's hard to please an O&A fan.

If it changed for the better, we'd not complain! I agree with what you & Glam are saying, Bach. The new rage mix sounds like some weak ass muzak. Terrible. Ditto with the Good Bad & Ugly music. Ponderous. Fuckin ponderous.

I actually like some of the mashups. I want to find a clean copy of some of them, so I can use them in my shows. I dj on weekends, and they would be a nice change from the same old shit.

They shouldn't have screwed with Rage. I liked everything else but I miss the THUD THUD THUD bass drum.

the middle part i think was used on the first show for one of the breaks. the Ecstasy redo sucks, it sounds real pussy now, after listening to it 3 times now its terrible.

Everyone made good points...but change is good and I bet, like this whole new XM show..we also will get used to the new music..with that said..leave street fighting man alone...plain and simple I say...

Absolutely correct. That song is a key part of their brand. You wouldn't change what WOW stands for, you wouldn't have girls take the Stickball Bat Challenge and you wouldn't F with other show staples. Leave the recognizable stuff alone. Just change the crap we don't like :action-sm

The only problem with that logic is that there is at least one post or thread bitching about every different aspect of the show.
If everything that was complained about, was eliminated, there would be three hours and and fifty three minures of silence after the intro to the show.
As far as I know, there are less than 10 board members that are actually in the broadcast business. :icon_roll

I was just being a sarcastic douchenozzle with that comment. In reality, I'm a proponent of patience in waiting for problems to be fixed and I do support freshening up the sound of the show.

I spent six years in the radio industry. Not tooting my own horn or looking for anything by mentioning this. Just bringing it up to reference the fact that I really do understand what the boys are up against as far as management bs and listener complaining is concerned.

I was not attacking you there, sorry I picked out your post for that. Some of the threads are driving me nuts!
I had a feeling from some of your other posts that you are or were connected in the industry.
I'm aware of at least 5 members, now 6 that are industry related now.

I liked the new "Gold". It's more original. Hoping to find it somewhere.
I just heard the new Gold.. and part of my manhood is ashamed to say that I know where its from. Hopefully I can explain it enough to redeem myself.
The new version is done by Yo-Yo Ma and its on a CD called "Yo-Yo Ma plays Ennio Morricone". The reason I know this is when I had first found out what the name of the intro song was, I searched all over to get the .mp3 and in this process I came across this version.
If anyone has iTunes, you can download this version for 99 cents.

If you do download it with iTunes, try to get it at the best bitrate, (Preferences > Importing > Apple Lossless),then burn it to a CD so you can reimport it. That way it does not have the AAC encoding which will allow it to only 4 devices.

Play it in one program while recording it in another. can you do that Carl Spackler?

if you think that I am going to spend $.99 to download Yo-Yo Ma your nuts. Thats the kind of thing that when I die and someone gets my computer and finds Yo-Yo Ma on my playlist, they will say that they always knew I was liked that.

Even with the inferior sound quality, I like the original version much better. It has much more of a cowboy-in-the-graveyard feel to it- the clanging bells are sorely missed. And the violin soloing in the newer version makes it almost unlistenable. I say, find a better quality version of the original.
I have no idea why they changed the Street Fighting Man- the old one was more sparse and left more room for drops- it wasn't broken and did not need fixing. Just my uneducated opinion.....

Folks, remember, it's all about change. Change makes it more gooder.some changes some don't like, but regardless changes are gonna happen like it or not.
I like the changes. means they are working on the show.
Just sit back and enjoy the ride. I am.
